Does anyone read graphic novels?

I’ve recently read the Walking Dead graphic novels and really enjoyed them. I used to watch it on telly but got bored with it, so tried the graphic novels and they were much better.

I’ve never really read that type of book before and wouldn’t know where to start looking for others, anyone read any other series that they enjoyed?

Hellboy is fun. I am also very fond of the Cary Nord-illustrated Conan the Barbarian comics/GNs.

My son loves them, I’ve bought him Saga in the past, they are available on Amazon or Book Depository.

'The Sandman' series (10 in total) by Neil Gaiman are excellent.

We use to buy quite a lot, my parents b pi ught the 3 big walking dead series for my DH. I've read certain Batman ones, killing joke I enjoyed.

League of extraordinary gentlemen and The Boys are suppose to be very good.

I love graphic novels but I tend to go for a lot of the young adult ones (Raina Telgemeier books are fantastic). I also love Posy Simmons. I was a massive weekly comic reader as a child (think Bunty etc) and I have just finished reading a reprint book of a story from Jinty Comic called Fran of the Floods. A story about the effects of global warming and flooding - from 1976!!
I also enjoyed Charley's War (from the comic Battle).
I quite like the little Commando Picture Story comics which you can still actually buy in Whsmith!! There is definitely part of me that is still age 10 when it comes to comics/graphic novels.

Lucy Knisley is great for anyone not interested in Sci-Fi or Fantasy genres, people who just want to enjoy the drawings and a gentle tale.

Purists probably wouldn’t consider it a true graphic novel but The Invention of Hugo Cabret is wonderful.

A few suggestions:

Wicked and divine
Chew
East of west
Sixth gun

Nightly news

Also if you like the comic format and aren't fussed about the novel part check out the on going comics:

I've enjoyed the Dark Tower ones that Marvel did based on Stephen King's book series. I'm also a fan of the two David Gemmell graphic novels but I love the books they're based on. They're out of print and collectibles though so you'd need to pay a fair price to read them...although not much more than a new copy.

My husband prefers darker content and is into Garth Ennis I can't remember if Walking Dead is his or if I'm making that up. The Boys & The Crossed are pretty brutal by my husband's admission but I think he quite likes the shock factor of not knowing what he'll be reading next. The Kingsman graphic novel is pretty good too.

Sandman is amazing.
Preacher by Garth Ennis is brilliant.
I also loved Strangers in Paradise.

Also, Alan Moore’s graphic novels, particularly V for Vendetta and Watchmen.
You could also try Persepolis, which is an excellent real life story graphic novel.
Or what about Maus?

Thanks for all the suggestions I will have a look at them.
