January blues - tell me some nice things

Morning everyone. Struggling today - dark mornings, children raging against getting ready for school, feeling apathetic about life.

Please tell me some nice things that are happening for you/you’ve seen/you know! I love these types of threads when I’m feeling blue.

Going to take the dogs for a walk now - they’ll be happy about that at least 🙂

Oh dear, maybe everyone is unhappy?! Apparently 20th is 'blue Monday'... The sun is out here after days of rain, sunshine always lifts my mood!

A family member just had a baby after losing her son three years. Happiness (still tinged with sadness) but happiness. We met the baby yesterday and she’s a delight and them as a family are a joy to see.

I’ve recently discovered podcasts and am making plans for walks whilst listening on dry days this month - seems like a good idea anyway!

@Indecisivelurcher haha, that’s what I thought this morning! 😊 we have had some sunny spells today too and it’s made me feel better.

Bought myself a new plant and did some
yoga - simple things.

@Inver38 that’s wonderful! Congrats to your family! Flowers

Which podcasts do you listen to?

Life for me right now could hardly be bleaker but I am trying to look for nice things to cheer my spirit. Today, the sun shone, albeit briefly. I aired the bedrooms. The days are lengthening and the snowdrops are pushing through the ground. The snowdrops are the best thing for me. Once they start, there is a continuous stream of new plants and flowers to take us all the way into spring.

LittenKitten · 15/01/2020 16:01

Oh yes @Dumbledoresgirl, I love those new shoots poking through too. I put some more bird food out earlier as well and a small round blue tit was there within minutes.

Sending you kind thoughts and Flowers

My January is brimming with anxiety so far. Had my PIP home visit today which was really tough.

But look at this (sorry it’s a crap photo; I’m on the 2nd floor):

These two foxes are AT IT out the back! Much screaming! It’s taking ages and looks kind of painful.

It’s actually a good reminder that there is still life and nature out there despite my own troubles.

LittenKitten · 16/01/2020 12:50

@Pipandmum 4.5 weeks for us - but that doesn’t seem very long either! Hopefully it’ll go quickly (but not too quickly - a lot of my anxiety/wallowing this week is about how quickly the kids are growing up. Very hormonal this week I think).

Good luck with your PIP, fingers crossed all goes well for you.

Thank you, LittenKitten (or LittleKittle).

I’m not feeling very hopeful to be honest.
