Thank you! Are the changing rooms etc tired or all nice?

usual really. functional! I ignore the cubicles and head to female communal changing.....hardly anyone uses them! wristband/ doorkey also operates lockers at elveden

The pirate themed splash area is fantastic.

It’s the only one I’ve ever been to but the swimming pool is really good. My DD loves the pirates lagoon.

We went very recently. The changing rooms were filthy and very tired looking, there was mud etc all over the floors which was a nightmare coupled with wet feet and quite a few of the showers weren't working. The sports bar was just awful, tables weren't cleared at all, the bar had run out of most of the beer etc on tap and the whole area was generally dirty, floors covered in food and spilt drinks, toilets blocked and sinks filthy.
When we arrived our lodge (which was one of the more expensive ones with a daily clean service) hadn't been cleaned but the beds were made.
The pub by the beauty spa again was dirty, ie tables were not cleared, food on floors and awful toilets. Also someone had been sick and it hadn't been cleaned up properly so the smell was horrific.

We did complain and we were told it is due for a refurb quite soon and lots of people have commented about it.

To be honest, we have been there regularly for a long time but won't go back until it is refurbed. There just wasn't enough staff to cope with the numbers of customers.

Went at Xmas, really liked it compared to other sites. All seemed clean and well run to me.

It’s a flat site so ideal for children to cycle everywhere. It is a 15 min walk from the outer 'Pine' area or a very leisurely 10 min cycle along flat footpaths/roads. Longleat however is not ideal for young cyclists due to the hills. We love Longleat, especially the landtrain but if you like to cycle a lot as we do, not ideal).
Everything at Elveden is in one location. The supermarket, restaurants, shops, swimming, indoor activities, outdoor activities, the lake etc etc is all in one area in the parc. We were pleasantly surprised to find that despite the parc being full, we were never overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people that we have experienced at Longleat. It has been well planned so that there are no bottle necks of people anywhere and it feels very open and spacious. The main attractions at Longleat are spread out in three main areas but the main area with the swimming and supermarket and restaurants can get very busy and cramped due to everyone having to squeeze down a narrow staircase to the changing rooms. Quite a few bottle necks which made it quite unpleasant at times with small children.
Geo-cache - brilliant fun, strongly recommend this GPS style treasure hunt. Our 5 year old LOVED it.
Indoor climbing - fantastic new activity, well worth it. About 14 different climbing walls to attempt in a 50 min session (£18) must be over 1.10m to participate. My 5 year old loved it, book early though!
We used the Aqua Sana (same as Longleat), pirate and princess party (same as Longleat) and we ate out in Hucks and The Pancake House. Food was great, buffet for kids in Hucks was super (play area in Hucks is excellent, the play area in The Pancake House is more suitable for toddlers).
I think the flumes etc are better at Elveden. For toddlers/younger children there is a Venture Cove which is brilliant (flumes, water cannons, water everywhere = great fun). Rapids that go outside are better than Longleat (but do be aware that children wearing arm bands/lifejacket are not allowed down them), in fact they do ask to see your child swimming first to make sure that they are ok to go down the rapids (I think this is a good idea because they are more 'white-water' like compared to Longleat).

Thank you all so much for your help! I have only been to woburn and it was so clean and new it is very tempting to go again but have heard quite a lot of people recommending elveden.

Elveden is lovely but it’s a lot bigger than Woburn as everything is more spaced out. Just something to bear in mind if you have little ones.

theweebleshavelanded · 14/01/2020 19:55

we went for xmas. its clean and fine!

We're seasoned CP-ers :) and have done all the England sites (not the new Ireland one) and Elveden is my favourite. It has great pools for little ones and the lagoon pool is soooo warm which makes it fantastic for babies/to relax.
