Are tuppence and crumble star wraps really as good as they say?

Everyone seems to rave about them.

Do they come up big? My little one is just over six pounds.

Do you use them in slings/baby carriers? A lot of the reviews say the fleece ones are a good alternative to snow suits so I’m
Wondering if it would actually be too warm?

Do you still put babygrow and vest under them (presuming they are like a pramsuit?)

Thank you! They look super cute

I bought my friends baby one as a gift and she said it was brilliant.

I bought the 3-6 months one I think and it did come up big while her DD was at the younger end of the scale.

She used it in a baby carrier, pram, car seat etc.

Normal clothes underneath.

Selfsettling3 · 13/01/2020 17:04

I loved it. Snowsuits under slings shouldn’t be used and the wraps are better but not ideal.

JellyTeapot · 13/01/2020 17:12

Yes, they're absolutely brilliant. I had them for my twins, not having to put four tiny arms and four tiny legs into snowsuits to do the school run every morning saved a lot of time and a tiny bit of my sanity. And if they fell asleep I could easily open the wraps up at home so I didn't have to worry about overheating.

Mine wore them from birth (5lb9 and 5lb10) though they fit better after a few weeks! They just wore vests, sleep suits and a cardigan underneath and were fine. I mainly used them in the pram but sometimes they wore them in their car seats.

Grumpbum123 · 13/01/2020 17:17

Yes they are brilliant

Allcrimps · 13/01/2020 17:24

Yes! The best baby item I ever bought! I miss DS's little star body in in. You won't regret it!

Aberforthsgoat · 13/01/2020 18:15

Ooh ok.
So not good for sling but ok for baby carrier? We have the ergo.
DS hates his pram suit so I was thinking this might be a good alternative and I noticed they do a cotton one so that might be a good one to get for spring

No I bloody hated mine! A lightweight fleece onesie was the best thing for a carrier I found.

A Morrck was best for the car.

GloGirl · 13/01/2020 18:20

Think that should be Morcck. Stupid name whichever it is! But it's a car seat blanket that passed all the safety tests. (5 years ago at least!)

Aberforthsgoat · 13/01/2020 18:55

What didn’t you like about it @glogirl? Good to hear other opinions

Yes, I loved ours!

Minai · 13/01/2020 19:50

I didn’t really use ours. My antenatal group raved about them so I got one to see what all the fuss was about and never really got on with it. If it was cold I used a snowsuit or a coat and I never really felt the need for an extra blanket. That being said everyone else I know who has one loves it so maybe it’s just me!

mynameiscalypso · 13/01/2020 19:54

I was totally unconvinced by the idea of them and then, after struggling for what seemed like hours to jam a coat onto DS, I bought one and it's brilliant. We don't have a sling but I use it in the baby carrier (as I would, a coat or heavy cardigan) as well as the pram/car seat. DS always looks so toasty but it's also so easy to adjust if he looks like he's getting too hot.

madasaboxofcats · 13/01/2020 20:19

Another vote for amazing here. Wish they did them in adult sizes Grin

byvirtue · 13/01/2020 20:24

I was given one, it was alright I only really used it after swimming once she was out of her swimsuit and I could warm her up in it before she got dressed. Literally used a handful of times.

Definitely wouldn’t have bought one myself.

SleepDeprivedElf · 13/01/2020 21:19

I loved mine, but they are expensive - buy one off ebay if you can.

PowerslidePanda · 13/01/2020 22:46

Bought one each for my twins and am pretty disappointed by them. I've got the 0-4 months size, which still swamps my DDs at 10 weeks. They're too bulky. The hoods are forever slipping down over my DDs' faces, so when they wear them in the pram I have to stop every few feet to adjust them. They're easy to put on if you can lie the wrap and baby on a flat surface, but impossible in any other circumstance - for instance, my DDs wore their wraps in the car seat to the doctors - at the appointment, we lifted them out of the wrap and really struggled to wrestle them back in - it didn't work lying the wrap in the car seat, nor putting them on with baby perched my lap, as you could with a coat (not that I'd put them in a car seat wearing a coat, but you know). We've found that normal blankets are far less faff.

DappledThings · 13/01/2020 23:24

Loved mine, in sling as well.

The hoods are too big and I always had to fold them back over the pom pom bit but other than that totally brilliant.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about something delicious sounding to eat. Leaves the thread.

Selfsettling3 · 14/01/2020 07:50

Sorry I was using slings and baby carriers interchangeably. It’s better to have the baby under your coat.

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 14/01/2020 07:52

I really liked these. I even bought the larger size which my 18 month old still wears.
