Baby's First Passport

I'm applying for a first passport for my baby. I am British, husband is not and DS was born outwith the UK. Has anyone been in a similar situation and can you tell me what documents I need to send?
The govt website says I need his birth certificate, my birth certificate and then birth certificates and wedding certificates for both sets of grandparents. It's the grandparents' documents that seem strange to me. Especially since DH's parents' documents will also need to get translated into English and they aren't British anyway, so shouldn't impact on a UK passportHmm and why do they need marriage certificates for grandparents but not for parents? Doesn't seem very logical. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and if all of the above was needed.

They requested the exact same documents from me when I applied for my babies first passport. She was born in the UK but her father is German. Given I was born on the UK and have a British passport I couldn't see why I needed to provide them with the grandparent documents as she has citizenship through me. I called them and they agreed and I just sent mine and my babies birth certificates and it was all fine.

We are estranged from my PILs so wouldn't have been able to get some of the documents anyway.

Similar situation here although DD was born in the U.K. I would suggest calling them as they’re super helpful. I was told to supply my details and then to write my parents’ British passport numbers on the top of the form. All was fine and passport came back quickly.

I take it you have a British Passport yourself (so have British Citizenship)

You can apply for a Passport for your DC and only need to give details of one parent that is British, so dont see why you would need both set of GP's details

Thanks for the advice, yes I am a British citizen/have a British passport. I will give them a call tomorrow and speak to them. If I could just give the passport numbers of my parents that would be a lot easier.

You are passing on your British citizenship so its just your passport number that would be required. They shouldn't need grandparents' details
