New York with a 16 year old

My daughter really wants me to take her to New York after her GCSEs. I think I am going to do it. She watches a lot of YouTubers. Something she said she wants to do is go in a "gas station" to get a massive slushy. Am I right that if we are in central Manhattan, they don't have that type of gas station? Can we get a big slushy from normal fast food places there?

Any other recommendations for where to stay and what to do, for maybe 3 days in NY, would be appreciated too! I know she wants to go in Sephora....

Not sure about slushy but she will love Ellen’s Stardust Diner just off Times Square. My 15 year old loved it last summer. Diner food and singalong

We hated it. It was dark, it was too loud, the food options were poor. We left just after being seated.

It was a real shame as we had really looked forward to it.

Oh, and the Circle Line, but only the half-circle tour.

Friends building def worth doing. Mine also loved Katz Deli, boating in Central Park, Dylan’s Candy Store, Top if the Rock, Shake Shack in Madison Square Gardens...

No one goes to Ellen's for the food, it's shit! But the fun is listening to the talent and joining in with the craziness

Watch some films and shows set in NY and see the sites!

We’ve been a few times now - I think the UN building is lovely and I always go along the High Line (take a spotter guide to see things from the vantage point).

Deffo Central Park to see the amazing buildings that skirt it. St Patricks is very recognisable.

And she has to have a photo taken flipping the bird to Trump Towers. I think it’s the law actually 😉

We always pop in here too - www.andrewsny.com/

If you do want to do some tours book tickets before you go.
I’m going In april and some trips we wanted to are already full.
Ds2 14 has his eyes on the Nintendo store and walking Brooklyn bridge

There's a Harry Potter store opening this year.

7/11 for the slushes, Dunkin donuts, Staten Island ferry, the high line, ghostbusters firehouse, friends apartment, boating round the lake in Central Park, the plaza hotel, Wall Street and charging bull.

Wouldn't bother with Ellen's either, and the most important thing is comfortable shoes!

Staten Island ferry is a cheap way to get close to the Statue of Liberty, Central Park is free of course

Ps taking notes as planning to go later in the year, no kids - taking the QM2

DH has a really good memory for (well most things) and last time we went to a couple of restaurants and bars that were named in old tv shows (where they name drop trendy places if the time). They weren’t exactly fantastic (big standard Italian or wine bars) and mostly forgotten (so not full of fans and tourists) by now but it was fun!

Thank you all for the extra suggestions! I am compiling a master list! Can't wait.
