Period pants recommendations please

My daughter has not long started her periods and I was wondering about period pants as a back up/extra to sanatory towels.
She is still a little irregular and therefore can be caught out, thought these worn a few days before she is due might be a good option. Also she bleeds heavily and often leaks so I wondered if worn with a pad they might help.
They are expensive though and I've heard mixed reviews so has anyone actually used them or can recommend a decent brand.
Thanks

I will be investing in the new modibodi shorts for myself. I find the knickers can't cope with the gush, on waking up and getting up, on my first couple of days.

Thanks all. I've ordered her a couple of pairs of the cheeky wipes ones, will see how they go.

Can I ask a question? How often do u change them during the day? My daughter has Down’s syndrome and towels don’t really work for her . Would these be better? Thanks

I don't know which brand but Sainsburys are selling some, I have an overactive bladder & I'm thinking about trying them for daytime & keeping my pull ups for at night because that is when I have most of my accidents. They start at £10 a pair up to £12 in different absorbent levels.

@Nat6999 will have to look out for them, thank you for sharing.

Are any designed to be worn without pads? I would much prefer to catch it all in absorbent pants than faff about with pads but I don’t think I’d trust them!

I did buy some off a link that popped up on FB but they were not the size they had been advertised as, so didn’t fit.

I have modibodi and some others with just a waterproof lining forget the name, really good for women at the other end of the age group who are irregular too

How often do they need changing during the day? Or do you wear all day?

Do they contain pdour?

@Wonkydonkey44 I would imagine ideal if she could manage the routine of laundering. Unless she is very heavy they will easily last a school day and through the night.

Wonkydonkey44 I find they last about as long as a pad does in terms of absorbency. So if you are changing the pad say 3x per day you'd need to change the pants 3x a day as well.

However they seem to stay fresher for longer so if you just need the volume of 1 pad but are changing more often for freshness, you wouldn't need to change the pants.

Period pants are amazing. I’ve got WUKA and Modibodi ones. I find the WUKA ones more comfortable. They are honestly life changing - and how I wish they’d been around when I was a teenager.

Update - they're amazing! Not thick, absorbant, no leaks even at night. Would highly recommend.
