Best pens for writing

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 12/01/2020 14:49

Hello,
My handwriting is appalling! I spend the majority of my time using a computer but the times I have to write in books I am fully aware of how terrible my writing looks -
some words are illegible Blush.
At the moment I'm blaming my tools. Can anyone recommend some decent handwriting pens that make their writing looks half decent? - I'm hoping for legible.
Thanks in advance.

BIC ballpoint pens. Cheap, simple and lasts a long time.

Lamy Safari fountain pen

Yep, fully agree. I've now got 4 so I can write in 4 different colours. Lovely pen, very easy and smooth to write with. I'm left handed so use their left handed nibs. I can't write neatly with anything else.

Lamy Safari! I had awful handwriting so when somebody suggested I get a fountain pen I thought they were crazy. But it forces you to hold the pen properly and your writing does just look so much better!

I use Zebra pens. I buy them in all sorts of colours. I’m left handed and I find I cannot just use any pens.

Dd is 12 and uses a Cross fountain pen (a gift from generous grandparents!)

Lovely. Thanks for the suggestions. I shall start looking into them Smile

OP, I really think you're best off trying them out for yourself and seeing what works for you.

The only way I worked out what was best for me was by experimenting- other people have recommended their favourites, which I have tried, but which don't work for me/my handwriting/my ergonomic preferences.

Also, if you're not writing by hand much, I doubt a pen will change your letter formation on its own - I think you need to practise more.

I found my handwriting got better when I started using a bullet journal as I didn't want to ruin it with my messy handwriting!

Yes, fair comment Longines, I was after suggestions so I could have a look and try. I also recognise that the only way I can improve on my writing is to write more 😩 Let's see how that one goes! 🤦🏿‍♀️

Thanks everyone Smile

I decided to improve my handwriting by going back to a fountain pen (hadn't used one since childhood.)It wasn't as easy as I'd hoped and I think it was because modern cheap paper has recycled fibre in it, which I don't think was the case years ago. Maybe invest in some proper writing paper.
