I would love to know what you would choose as your specialist subject on Mastermind.

Mine would be either George Orwell's 1984, The Office US or Ru Paul's Drag Race.

80s pop music. If I could have a "guess the song from the intro" round I'd be right in there.

FramingDevice · 12/01/2020 12:10

@itsgettingweird, that is reminding me of a very involved conversation about the phrase ‘leading someone up the garden path’ with my autistic godson.

MiseryChops · 12/01/2020 12:10

The wizarding world of Harry Potter.
To say I’m a massive geeky expert is an understatement.
I’d probably beat JK Rowling

@myfuckingfreezer Harry Potter has been banned in mastermind as it's the most requested specialist subject!

Eurovision. Or parkrun.

itsgettingweird · 12/01/2020 12:25

Framing there's certainly never a dull moment. We've also had the reverse where he's be taught the meaning and non literal version and then translated it back.

My favourite ever moment was him repeatedly asking for boiled egg and dead soldiers. I couldn't understand what he meant by dead. Turns out he'd heard the phrase "you're toast" when playing at school. It had had to be explained to him it meant in trouble, dead etc.
He wanted boiled egg with toast Grin

Harry Potter has been banned in mastermind as it's the most requested specialist subject!

That's outrageous! Can I get around it by being more specific? I.e. plot flaws in Harry Potter books 4-7?!
