Semi precious jewellery?

Not sure if that’s the correct term but if you had a budget of £250ish to buy a nice ring (white gold or silver with some form of stone) where would you look?!

At auction for the best value, on ebay if you are prepared to take a punt, or from a pawn shop if you don't mind buying someone's broken dreams (potentially Grin)

"if you like semi-precious stones, I'd also take a look at craft fairs and on Etsy.

If you going to a jewellery retailer on the High Street, you will get what it says on the tin, but taking it out of the shop will wipe about 2/3 of the value of it.

If you have a local goldsmith, though, you can go and get exactly what you want made - there's obviously a premium for custom work and the skill involved, but nothing like High Street premium, so you get a lot more for your money.

Some big antiques centres have amazing selections of rings, some of them very old, some of their relatively new. Loads cheaper than the high street.

I would say auctions in small towns and regions.

We buy alot of jewellery from auctions. If you do not mind that they are 'second hand' (I have a love for art deco and victorian jewllery so it is always second hand!) then that is great.

For my birthday last year DH got my a huge art deco sapphire and diamond ring for jjust under £300.

I love wearing jewellery that someone has loved before... my engagement and wedding rings were both Victorian.

A second hand jewellery shop. There's one called Aladdins Cave in Leeds which is full of gold rings etc

Pawn shops have incredible prices. You have to look around the shops to find the ones that sell better stuff.uou end ip just paying for the scrap price if the metal l, and usually the stones aren't valued for much at all so you will pay virtually nothing. The thing is you will have to wait out until something you like the look of comes along. Auctions are the next option, (remember to add vat and fees). Second hand jewellery is much much cheaper than new. You're more likely to find what you want on etsy or somewhere but it will be much more expensive.
