Supervisor taking the piss?

I suspect that one of my supervisors is often secretly taking the piss when they speak to me. They frequently seem to have a really weird smirk on their face (as if it's terribly amusing interacting with me).. And if there are certain other people there at the time it's obvious there is some kind of in joke about me going on.

I'm not sure how to deal with it tbh as it can be quite upsetting.

Watching with interest. I had one of these many many years back - I simply ignored it because I knew I was only in the job for the summer, though it did upset me. But I often still wonder, what could/should I have done to handle things better?

The thing is that the things I get asked to do are completely legit - things like doing extra hours etc.. But the expression on their face is so strange it gives the impression that they are asking me to do stuff that is a total joke that I am unaware of.

I can't figure it out at all, but it's really not nice.

Some people have resting smirk face, maybe it's not personal. I see a woman out and about sometimes and always has an expression like she's trying to hold laughter in.

Try not to sweat it, easier said than done I know but tbh it's just plain unprofessional and rude.

I used to work with a lady like this who tended to act like this with disdain towards anyone who she felt was below her in status, at work )new staff and younger)

She confided in a colleague that her husband was seeing other women and she completely supported him financially so I suspect she took her own troubles out at work.

Your supervisors behaviour says more about her than you, just offer a smirk back and overreact theatrically for every thing she asks!

More overtime? Great I'd really love to spend more time at work!

The smirky supervisor I had was just the same. Only weeks after I left he was on the front page of the local paper for having been arrested for something he'd done in his personal life that was quite shockingly careless and reckless. In retrospect, he'd probably been preoccupied throughout our work together with hiding it from the world.
