Best website to use? I've had varying degrees of success with that but I want something really lovely and not ridiculously expensive! Any suggestions?

Always a florist local to your recipient

Whichever you choose also remember to buy them via Quidco or TopCashback - most florists give cashback between 10% and 25% so get the free money!

I just phone a florist local to the recipient. Last time I did this, the flowers had arrived within 30 mins of my phone call. Now that's good service!

I had bloom and wild odd a friend at Christmas and they are still looking beautiful! Will definitely use them now if I ever need to!

I like the way Bloom and Wild do the letterbox option so your package of flowers will fit through the average letterbox but agree a local florist beats them for price and variety. So, flowers for me or ones I am taking with me come from the florist but if sending flowers then would go for Bloom and Wild. I’ve also been pleased with Waitrose And M&S in terms of delivering to the right place and texting me they have arrived.

Ive used Great British Florist who use British grown or very close by, no air miles. Better selections in summer, but they do do winter flowers too. Have been sent pics by recipients and they always seem very good.

I used to work in an Interflora florist :-) They are all independent companies. Order through their website and the flowers are either sent from a central warehouse, or from the local shop (better - but with a huge chunk of your money going straight to Interflora) Please please if you use Interflora ring the florist direct. Better for them and much better for you!

If I need flowers to go through a letterbox and it is winter or spring, I use ScillyFlowers, for the rest of the year, Bloom&Wild. Otherwise, I google a local florist.

I send flowers nationally (uk) and internationally (mainland Europe, USA, Australia, Singapore, South Africa) all through the year.

Overall, the best flowers have usually been when contacting the local interflora florist directly. Mentioning that I found them accredited through IF but ordering direct can result in varying levels of service. More often than not you get a larger and prettier arrangement for the same money as they're not paying extortionate fees.

Otherwise Google and TripAdvisor are your friend for finding somewhere local to the recipient.

I now actually save the really good florist details in the notes section of the contact for those that we send flowers to as standard. Not only does it mean you don't have to do the same google search time and again, the details are to hand and it's not a chore to accomplish.

Please don't order the delivered in a box by courier flowers. My MiL sends me those for my birthday every year. She orders a lovely bouquet which isn't cheap by any means but by the time it arrives to me (1-2 days from dispatch), everything is tired around the edges and a bit tossled. You can see how lovely they're meant to be, and appreciate the present / thought, but are slightly disappointed by the fact everything is wilted at the edges.
