How old for a sleepover?

Been done a million times I know.

Not cousins or similar. School friends where you have done lots of day time play dates and you know and like the parents, but they're not close family friends.

About 9 years old in my opinion but I know others who are happy doing them around 6 - 7 years.

Yeah my dc are 8 and turn 9 in soon and I was thinking they were nearly old enough and that sleepovers in the summer / easter would be ok.

My niece has had sleepovers since around 6 with school friends, but fortunate enough where they’re all more or less living on the same street/ next street. She’s had friends sleepover recently who are 9 and it was their first sleepover. I think it depends on who the sleepover is with and when they’re (and parents) are ready.

  1. Preferably after they've left home.

Last one we had (10yo birthday party) they were awake till 3am then woke at 6am and were on the trampoline by 7am. Never again.

Depends on the child. For my DDs 5th birthday when she was in reception, she had a sleepover and three reception aged (4/5yrs) friends came. No tears at all, they all had a blast. Then we've had another one since too, again, the other child was just 5. DD won't go on one though, she wants to sleep at home. Her very confident friends don't seem to bat an eyelid though and they basically plan them all the time
