Help- how to dispose of a skeleton respectfully (medical school skeleton)

No, I havent been up to anything questionable.

DH went to medical school when he was younger. On his course the students were mandated to buy a skeleton from a medical supply company. This was back when skeletons were real human remains, quite likely procured from India. There is no doubt that DH's anatomy skeleton is real.

That supply company has long gone. However DH still has his skeleton carefully wrapped in the attic. It isn't a complete model anymore but a collection of bones in a box. Which used to be a living, breathing person. The children are unaware of the existence of the skeleton.

However DH feels that the time has come to dispose of the skeleton in a respectful manner. Which is proving exceptionally difficult. The supply company is long defunct. His medical school wont take the skeleton without a HTA licence which DH doesnt have nor can he get because he cant prove he legally obtained the skeleton (he did!). We cant get them cremated as you cant do this without a licence which again we cant get. And DH feels very strongly about the skeleton NOT being used as a Halloween prop or being sold on an online auction site. Medical students he has contacted dont want to take on custody either. And we are stuck and just want his skeleton to be treated in a respectful, humane manner.

Has anyone ever been in this situation before, and if so what did you do? We seem to be hitting brick wall after brick wall.

There was a thread on this last year I'm sure!

Yes I've definitely read this exact thread before! Not sure what the previous OP ended up doing though.

Personally I would go for a humanist burial on some land, with permission from the landowner. (Could be your own land or garden.) Thank the person you're burying for their gift to knowledge, and lay them down to rest.

Or you could offer your person to an anthropological or archaeological department.

Ask an art college maybe? Art students love drawing skulls and bones. (Although they might want a cert as well!)

The Human Tissue Authority posted advice on the thread linked above.
