I remember my mum going to bed at 10 at weekends when we were teenagers , doesn't feel right to me somehow

My mum never did, although I spent most of my time in my room anyway so was usually in there when she went to bed, but she never really went before midnight

DD is 15 and DS is 12 and sometimes we go to bed before them. Usually in school holidays as they go to bed at around 11 or midnight and we tend to go at 10.30 or 11.

I'm not there yet as my eldest is 10 but I go to bed at 9.30 as I get up at 5am so it won't be long before they want to stay up after me.

I probably went to bed before my DDs when they were around 13/14 maybe. Especially at weekends. During the week we all went to bed at around 9/10 but at the weekends they would stay up to watch TV or read in their rooms and me and DH would often be in bed by 10. Why doesn't it seem right? I am not one for going to bed late and teens can sort themselves out. If they were out when that age I would wait up for them but as they got older I just went to bed.

I'm 30, I have dc 6yo and 7mo.
Some days I can barely stay awake until after them, and the oldest goes to bed at 8pm Blush

Eldest is 14 and I can't imagine her wanting to stay downstairs after we go up, but we don't enforce lights out so she might be up reading after we're asleep. None of us (including DH and I) have screens of any kind upstairs though the kids all have CD player/ radios (yes I know that's old fashioned but it works).

Eldest stays up with us in the holidays if we're watching something she wants to watch (we usually watch series in the evening) but goes to bed when her younger siblings do in the week. She reads as long as she wants and / or has the radio or an audiobook playing.

So I don't think we'll be going to bed before the children until they're late teens at least, at this rate.
