DF has carers in which is funded by the local council. It's just a review they said as he hasnt been reviewed for 4 years.

They want to see the usual bank statement, any savings etc.. plus details of other personal financial expenditure relating to him being housebound... Ive listed hte following is there anything else I should be mentioning?

Personal alarm button which he has to have due to potential falls
Gardener - has to pay someone to do this
Chiropodist - comes to the house 2-3 times a year
Gas bill is high due to being housebound and his medical condition so gas fire is constantly on
Wheel chair taxis to and from hospital

I just cant think what else!

It's called disability related expenses , paying for someone to do your cleaning and shopping can also be claimed

wowfudge · 09/01/2020 10:46

Does he have a cleaner, what about food shopping, etc if this is separate from the carers?

Lightsabre · 09/01/2020 10:47

Meals on wheels/food service?
Electricity bill as tv/radio might be on for longer than average?
Any pads etc if there are continence issues. Ditto extra laundry if needed.

Does he need any adaptions made? (Say because he has less mobility than last time or whatever?) Does he have a home help or a cleaner? Anything like taxi fares for when he has a hospital appointment? Does he have takeaways because he's not able to manage in the kitchen? Any other therapists etc come to the house - barber, for example?

They're just checking he's getting the right level of support, and if he needs or is entitled to anything more, so don't worry about it - but include absolutely everything (as you're trying to do) so they get a complete picture.

Sorry - just seen you'd already included the taxis!

We as family do shopping an cleaning washing etc on a weekend. So far I have:

Personal alarm button which he has to have due to potential falls
Gardener - has to pay someone to do this
Chiropodist - comes to the house 2-3 times a year
Gas bill is high due to being housebound and his medical condition so gas fire is constantly on
Electric Bill - housebound so higher use of electric for tv etc..
Wheel chair taxis to and from hospital for regular visits

and pads, we used to get these on perscription but they only supply the "nappy" style ones which used to leak and fall down so now we have to personally buy the pull up style ones which are 100 times better

Hi does he have a lot of extra washing , personal and household?
Travelling to and from appointments , Leisure does he need someone to support him so he doesn’t become isolated - mental health at risk?
Any special training courses, does he have a personal alarm he pays for
Lots to add once you think about it

Overseasmom100 · 09/01/2020 11:34

thank Pumpkin washing, cleaning, shopping we do as a family on a weekend. Yes has a personal alarm which I will document. Has the optician to the house and the glasses he has are really expensive from them - do it this way as cant get him out to a place like vision express where they would be much cheaper Im sure!

Normal opticians offer home visits for housebound and elderly people.
My MIL used one of those private optician companies and they totally ripped her off with the price of her glasses
