Threadworms/ constipation

So sorry, need to ask for a bit of advice l don’t feel like lm getting anywhere.

My dd is 4, for a few weeks she has been saying l have a sore bum it started mainly of a night. So l thought worms looked for signs couldn’t see anything. Spoke to the doctor who said treat everyone anyway (phone consultation ). Went the chemist who asked me if l had seen signs l said no but on doctors advice l am going to do it, she put me off it was a harsh treatment yo give someone who doesn’t have worms. So looked into other things it might be, pharmacist suggested giving allergy medication to stop the itching and it seemed to go away, ran out over Christmas and gradually it’s come back but with constipation.

Tonight l decided to do what l did when she was a baby and put soap around her bum and l seen them. So promptly went to the chemist and bought the treatment we have all had a tablet, so that’s fine.

I have give her lactose the last two mornings and nothing has happened, she is crying when she is pushing, its horrid to watch.

Have l caused the constipation by not treating the worms more quickly. Honestly she eats so much veg and fibre l dot know what else to do for her. I feel so bad for her.

Any old wives tales as a solution that may help?

Warm bath? Lots of fruit juice (I'd let up in the fruit and veg and they are very bulk forming. Just until it passes.

When DD was constipated she had to have glycerine suppositories as lactulose hadn't worked, they worked almost instantly but you do need a prescription for children's ones. Lactulose won't do much for the hard stool that is already at the end, if you see what I mean.
I don't think thread worms actually cause constipation, but I may be wrong on that. They can cause tummy aches.

Prune juice is the most laxative but I doubt that will be popular. Apple also is mildly laxative.

More water or squash.

You don't need a prescription for children's suppositories round here. Your local pharmacy should do them. If she will let you they're very effective and very safe
