Had this appear on my hand in the last 3/4 months. It was tiny to begin with, getting slightly bigger but it's still so small. Any idea of what it could be? TIA

A mole? I get all my moles checked every couple of years and I would definitely get a new one or one changing shape checked out. It’s probably nothing but best have a dermatologist confirm that.

SnugStars · 08/01/2020 21:14

I wouldn’t personally, but if you're concerned you could get a Pharmacist to check it initially, they’ll know whether it needs a doctor to look at it.

MrsEricBana · 08/01/2020 21:14

No but I'd keep an eye on it for future changes.

@Booboostwo do you live in the UK?

nomorespaghetti · 08/01/2020 21:16

No, I'd not be worried about that. I'd compare a photo now and a photo in a few months, but it just looks like a tiny mole/freckle to me. You could always mention it the next time you're at the gp. I've found new moles popping up as i get older, particularly during and post pregnancy.

Drum2018 · 08/01/2020 21:17

What age are you? I was told you shouldn't get new moles after 35. I have lots and just recently have noticed a tiny one on my face which I'm keeping an eye on.

BraveSpiritKindHeart · 08/01/2020 21:18

It's a mole. I wouldn't get that looked at by a doctor. It doesn't appear suspicious looking at all. I'd feel silly showing it to them. I'm covered in much larger much darker ones. If you're really concerned speak with a pharmacist at your local chemist first before booking a drs appointment.

LittleBing · 08/01/2020 21:37

But it's not bumpy at all?

OP posts:
Booboostwo · 08/01/2020 21:39

No. Here the guidance is to have regular skin check ups and get any new mole or mole changing in shape or colour checked out. Skin cancer can be prevented if caught early so why risk it?

Booboostwo · 08/01/2020 21:42

BraveSpiritKindHeart your link says literally the opposite of your advice! 🤣🤣🤣

lljkk · 08/01/2020 21:44

it's almost invisible so no I wouldn't ask for advice about it

sanityisamyth · 08/01/2020 21:44

Webmd is quite possible the worst place to get medical advice from!!

Safer to use NHS website

www.nhs.uk/conditions/moles/

sanityisamyth · 08/01/2020 21:45

"See a GP if you notice a change in a mole

It's important to get a new or existing mole checked out if it:
• changes shape or looks uneven
• changes colour, gets darker or has more than 2 colours
• starts itching, crusting, flaking or bleeding
• gets larger or more raised from the skin
These changes can happen over weeks or months. They're sometimes a sign of melanomaa_, a type of skin cancer."

ShirleyPhallus · 08/01/2020 21:46

If it isn’t bumpy then it isn’t a mole surely?

I wouldn’t get a new freckle checked out by the doctor , no

FREEM · 08/01/2020 21:46

I get these and they disappear after a few months

Booboostwo · 08/01/2020 21:47

...so the same advice as WebMD then!

This thread is hilarious, but still get yourself checked out OP.

georgialondon · 08/01/2020 21:50

Moles can be totally flat. It looks exactly like a mole.
