Best place to camp at the New Forest?

I'd love to visit the NF but not sure which the best site would be. Electric hook up and half decent toilet/shower facilities are a must, other amenities like a laundry, small shop etc are preferable.

My 8yr old says regular sightings of wild ponies is definitely a necessity Grin DH has been telling her about when he went when he was a kid and you could wake up in the morning and find a herd of ponies right outside your tent.

We stayed at Holland’s Wood but no electric hook up.
The ponies tried to pinch our breakfast much to the DC’s amusement

We’ve camped at Holmsley before. Was great.

I will warn you cars etc get regularly broken into in the main part of the NF so preferably take everything valuable out and leave it unlocked or you'll have an insurance claim and repair bill on top of holiday costs

Try the reshoot camp site. It's fenced so no marauding donkeys but right in the middle of the forest with lovely walks. They have good wash block a shop and a pub right by the gate 😀

@1vandal2 yes I've seen lots of theft warnings on various campsite websites! Shocking Sad

@aibutohavethisusername thanks, Holmsley looks great!

If you decide to go for Holmsley you need to take rock pegs and a good, strong peg remover as the ground can be pretty solid there.

Thanks for the tip @frugalkitty! I will add them to my list.
