I looked into it but the charges were too high for me.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 08/01/2020 17:43

We use it. It's very handy for the kids.

dementedpixie · 08/01/2020 17:44

Wouldn't waste money on it tbh. Once they reach age 11 they can get a bank account with card that costs nothing

TheGirlWhoLived · 08/01/2020 17:45

I have a friend that uses it and really loves it. My two are still too small to even go out on their own but I like it in principal and she really does rave about it!

dementedpixie · 08/01/2020 17:47

£2.99 a month!! No way. We did cash up to age 11 and then they got a bank account with a debit card

Outnumb3red · 08/01/2020 17:54

I use it and like it.

I can control the use of the debit card too, set spending limits and how much can be withdrawn at any one time.

I have it set to save a portion of the pocket money each week too.

I don't think the fee is excessive and I'd probably spend that much on a coffee.

We use it and like it. There's no actual bank branches where we live to open an account and online ones seem to say you need to bring ID in etc. Pretty impossible the hours we work.

The app is great and we can monitor how much DS spends and where if we want to.

EnolaAlone · 08/01/2020 17:59

I use it and like it too. It's useful for paying pocket money and setting up tasks that DS can earn money from. He likes the budgeting screen on it. I didn't think the fee was too much, it's £2.99 a month. It's very easy to use.

I use it for younger dd who is rising 8. Its great for her, it keeps her money safe in one place and she can see how much she's got. Older dd uses Osper which is good too. My only bugbear with gohenry is that it pays pocket money weekly so my dd who gets a pound per year each month, so currently £7 has to have it divided by 4. Much easier after her birthday Grin

actiongirl1978 · 08/01/2020 18:04

I love it, I have one for dd12 and ds10.

Ds10 spends every penny and more buying movies on Amazon, so it makes it easy for him to pay.

DD12 goes shopping on her own now and it's so good seeing what she spends her money on and being able to take it back (as happened in extremis after some bad behaviour once). She saves it, adds all birthday money in, watches it like a hawk.

Fee is ok.

The bank accounts we looked at didn't have parental view.

We use Nimbl cards, which are similar. We have foster children so setting up bank accounts, getting all the paperwork and permissions etc, can sometimes be a headache (not to mention getting to a bank) but this is dead simple.

MissSmiley · 08/01/2020 20:26

I've used GoHenry for all five of my kids and pay a weekly amount of pocket money say £4 and they can use it themselves in a shop, but swopped to a normal free bank account when they reached 11

motortroll · 08/01/2020 20:27

We have nimbl cards which are similar.
