Greek family holiday

Please forgive if I'm in the wrong section, kept trying to proceed with " best family recommended holidays" but can't for some reason. Are there any experienced Greece travellers to advise?

I am really, really stuck with where to go. It's taken me months to narrow down the squillions of Islands to choose from. Think I've find the perfect place, then something puts me off for eg;

Bad winds depending where you are in the summer

shingle beach, hotel high in the mountains, steep gradient up/down to the beach, it's all inclusive, noisy in the evening, too far from the airport.
Am I being too fussy?
Would love 4*+ accom with sea view, direct sandy beach, no more than 30 mins to town, not on a hill, no longer than 45 mins airport.
I'll go anywhere, that's not wild with parties, but not too quiet & no more than £3k. 3 ads.
Where would you recommend?

I would simply love a beach hotel

we went to KOS a couple of years ago liked it a small enough island with good public transport to get round the island a decent water park and the food was good ,

I’d recommend Knossos Beach Hotel in Crete. Seems to tick your boxes but we did go outside of school holidays.

Finfintytint · 08/01/2020 15:51

*sorry, it’s called Knossos Beach Bungalows and Apartments

We had a lovely family holiday at Hotel Daphne on Samos.
It was not directly on the beach, although they would take you down to the beach and collect.
Beautiful walks up the nightingale valley, lunch at a taverna looking back down to the sea etc.
We also hired a car and explored the island as well as doing a day trip by boat etc. to Turkey and visiting, amongst other things, Ephesus.

Kalamaki in Zante has a lovely beach and is near a lively resort (name escapes me!). Not sure re 4* hotels. It's very near airport.

Tui Blue or Tui Family, Kos, would need to expand budget if school hols though.

it's been too long (sadly) to make specific recommendations but some thoughts:

Greece only has a few kiddy-drunk resorts. Avoid Faliraki on Rhodes, Malia on Crete, Kavos on Corfu and Laganas on Zante. Other places on these islands are fine.

much of Greece has shingle beaches but there are some beautiful sandy spots. The meltemi (which presumably is your 'bad wind') is only an issue if you are sailing or taking ferries, otherwise a good breeze is nice!

Have a look at Lefkada island - you fly to Preveza and then take the coach transfer across the bridge so no boat involved. Beautiful Egremni beach is still accessible by boat trip and there are many others. Lesvos island means a bit of a transfer but has plenty to recommend it, if you can find somewhere in Molyvos it has sunsets to die for. Or consider mainland resorts on the Peloponnese (or however you spell it...)

sigh...one day!

Thank you all so very much Flowers
Not sure I can expand much more spends & it is for Aug holidays.
Sani resorts in Halkidiki seem perfect, but don't have a budget of £15k for a week !Shock

Is it 3 adults going?

The Atlantica Imperial in Rhodes is lovely and ticks all the boxes but is adult only.

Actually might be too £££ but I can highly recommend it if it's within budget.

Our teen will be 14, when seeking prices, I've noted after 12 years they're classed as adults. or is this not a generic rule? just hotel dependant? Thank you

Skiathos is great and would suit your needs

CluelessNewMama · 08/01/2020 21:16

We had a lovely time at Sani resort in Halkidiki. Beautiful food, lovely beaches, nice marina and towns nearby. Went in Sept though so not sure how expensive in Summer holidays.

CluelessNewMama · 08/01/2020 21:19

Oops - sorry just read your previous post about Sani Blush. The prices are much more reasonable outside of school holidays so one to keep in mind for when the kids are a bit older maybe
