Yo sushi

So I’m going to yo sushi for the first time today and I wondered how it works?

Do you order at a counter? Or is it just the belt thing?
Is the food nice? I’ve looked at the menu and seems meat and veg options as well as fish which is good as I’m not mad keen on fish
Will I be sitting on people’s lap due to seating?

I struggle going to new places (sounds pathetic I know) and I like to know what I’m walking in to of you see what I mean.

I've only been a couple of times but usually they'll seat you then give you a menu.

Each item on the conveyor is on certain colour plate and each plate has a set price so they can see by how many empty plates you've had and what colour, what to charge you.

This is explained in the menu. There are also other dishes that can be ordered on the menu via the waiting staff and then the chef will make them up for you.

It’s a really good place to go if you’re vegan or vegetarian, so no fish is easy.

As the previous poster said, most food is on the belt but you can order hot food cooked fresh and delivered to your seat.

Its nice but I found it can get quite expensive if you dont keep an eye on what you're taking from the counter.

Thank you for replying 😃

I shall keep an eye on how many plates I’m eating, a bit like tapas I suppose you’ve soon eaten more than you remember.

Good to know about vegan, veggie options, I may eat them to avoid fish...

The veggie options are cheaper which is an incentive to eat them! When I go to conveyor sushi with dd I tell her which colour plates she can have, and to ask first if she wants to try a different one (because chances are I'll end up eating half of it).

When it's less busy, they don't have so much on the belt, so just ask if there's something you want that isn't visible, and they'll make some.

Some places you'll get a stool next to the belt, others have booths next to the belt. The sushi and other stuff is adequate but if you like sushi most places are better (in London anyhow).

My DD16 and I went to the one at Bluewater last year. It was lovely but as others have said, keep an eye on what you're eating/colour bowls on the conveyer belts. They're only little portions and we got a bit carried away and it came to nearly £50 Shock. We went again this year and ordered off the menu which worked out cheaper. Enjoy Grin

*They're only not they'rey Hmm

Mustbetimeforachange · 08/01/2020 12:49

You press the buzzer if you want something from the menu that you can't see, such as noodles etc that are cooked fresh. Cold stuff will be on the conveyor but you can ask for any that you can't see. It's fun, we love Yo Sushi, but yes, it can become expensive. If you have a student with you they get a good discount (need proof)

Devereux1 · 08/01/2020 12:51

You can sit up at the counter or in booths where the belt passes by too.
There are also other dishes from a menu, you don't have to take anything from the belt.
The main thing to bear in mind is the colour coding of the dishes from the belt.
Every single trip to Yo Sushi has ended up costing me dearly double what I thought it was going to be because I hadn't registered that a certain colour was way more expensive than the others.

EntirelyAnonymised · 08/01/2020 12:53

It’s nice enough but it’s way too expensive for what it is.

Lostmyunicorn · 08/01/2020 13:02

My kids love yo sushi - one of mine has ASD and is a big fan, I think because you can be completely in control of what you choose and eat, you can see it before you decide if you want it etc. But you do have to keep an eye on what you’re taking from the belt. It’s easy to blow the budget.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 08/01/2020 13:12

It’s lovely but ridiculously expensive. My small son and I spent £60 there on lunch and we weren’t even full!

PurpleDaisies · 08/01/2020 13:14

How?! Dh and I usually spend about £30.

EntirelyAnonymised · 08/01/2020 13:20

DH and I always spend £50+. We eat mostly the more expensive plates with a few veg plates thrown in. Plus drinks, the bill easily racks up.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 08/01/2020 14:23

Maybe we are greedy? 😀 But we do love seafood.
