Hot strong coffee.
Grandchildren.
Chocolate covered raisins.
Walking barefoot on grass.

golddustwomen · 08/01/2020 14:09

When my kids are hysterically laughing at each other whilst playing.
My 2 year old putting his little arms round me.
Having a cold bottle of beer with some music playing whilst getting ready for a night out.
The feel of a brand new book.
Rainbows.
Squirrels.

olderandwisernot · 08/01/2020 14:29

smell of babies - especially their heads
When you sink into a foamy bubble bath and it's just the right temperature
seeing my snowdrops first coming into flower
wildlife - any
toast cheese smell
children's laughter and shrieking on a beach in summer
any luxurious fabric, fur, silk, velvet, cashmere - I just love stroking texture

When a night out gets unexpectedly cancelled at the last minute and you are secretly overjoyed at the prospect of lying on the sofa in your pj's with a cuppa and a good film.

That first sip of coffee in the morning.

Seeing a dragonfly in the garden.

Unwrapping the cellophane off a new album, book, dvd etc.

‘My’ car had a broken boot lock for ages- not a big deal, I just had to use the key instead of the button remote.

DH recently realised it was an easy fix and fixed it. It now makes a massive ‘clunk’ every time I lock it.

I LOVE that clunk noise...

cjt110 · 08/01/2020 16:21

The sound of silence. I never really understood it's value until our son came along. Until then I had to have noise wherever I was, even if it was background. Now I crave silence and will sit silently when son and husband are out.

We always shout, ‘MONKEY PUZZLE TREE!’ when we see one. No idea how it started, but the youngest kid is 19 now and we still do it.

I smiled like a daft thing when I saw an elderly couple coming out of the charity shop with something I’d donated the other day. They were clearly really pleased with their purchase.

sueelleker · 08/01/2020 16:40

When a pre-ordered book by my favourite author arrives on my Kindle(especially if I've forgotten the publishing date)

whojamaflip · 08/01/2020 19:07

Climbing into a clean bed with fresh line dried sheets on it......

Sitting in the lambing shed watching the babies skipping and playing....

Watching the little wooly hooligans when they are older and out in the fields having races from one side of the field to the other..........

Hatching chicks in the incubator in spring....

Collecting eggs and finding a warm just laid one in the nest box.....

The sound of my kids giggling......

The first cup of coffee before anyone else is up......

Frosty morning walks with the dogs......

Smell of baking.......

mbosnz · 08/01/2020 19:20

The smell of conifers.
The song of a robin.
The smell of garlic and onions frying.
The sight of my girls appearing on the horizon, trudging their way home.

silverlamplight · 08/01/2020 19:33

my new blue hyacinth reed diffuser
a new diary
a lovely new fountain pen
a freshly made bed
my soft blanket
a good book
filling up the bird feeder

stophuggingme · 08/01/2020 20:21

@mbosnz ah yes the song of a robin. I love it so!

pinkyredrose · 08/01/2020 20:46

Oh and black bird song on a spring evening!

everyrosehasathorn · 08/01/2020 20:55

One of my cats sleeps with me and every night she shuffles round and round to find just the right spot, then lets out a long, contented purr-sigh and falls asleep. It warms my cockles to know she is so relaxed and happy

Yes this! Mine will also give me gentle paw taps when she’s feeling neglected. Makes me all gooey.
The perfect cup of tea made by my husband when I finally roll out of bed

Summergarden · 08/01/2020 20:58

Brushing my teeth, especially with Sensodyne or Arm and Hammer toothpastes. Specifically, I love when you get those little powdery grainy bits remaining on the surfaces of your teeth, it feels so good for about 30 seconds before they get rubbed away by my tongue.

SapphireSeptember · 08/01/2020 21:04

Being the first person to use a make-up tester in a shop. Grin Also using a new lipstick for the first time. And just make-up in general, I love the stuff!

Pumpkin spice hot chocolate from Starbucks, we don't have a Starbucks here anymore so whenever I go somewhere with one in the autumn I load up on it, no one else does it as well. Also Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate is amazing stuff, I will take detours when I'm down in London just to get to one of their cafe shops.

Good chocolate, I love Hotel Chocolat or Montezuma's.

Halloween time, I'd rather have Halloween than Christmas.

Tea in all its forms.

Trains, going on the train, hearing them (I can here them pulling in and out of our train station) watching videos of them. Smile

Holographic/iridescent shiny things. I can look at them till my eyes go fuzzy.

Jellykat · 08/01/2020 21:05

Watching birds in the bird bath, through my kitchen window
Feeling the sun on my face (distant memory atm)
My hot water bottle
Having DS1 at home for Christmas and Easter

Jellykat · 08/01/2020 21:08

Just thought of another one..
When a customer buys something ive made

Stompythedinosaur · 08/01/2020 21:10

Noticing a full moon in the sky.
Writing on the first page of a new notebook.
Popping a spoon through the paper top on a jar of nutella.
Putting away the shopping and seeing the fridge full with healthy food.
Seeing a new episode has come out of my favourite podcast.

cheapskatemum · 08/01/2020 21:15

I love the colour of the sun when it's like a rich orangey yellow egg yolk, at sunset. I can't stop looking at it (not good if I'm driving east!). It makes me inordinately happy.

rslsys · 08/01/2020 22:03

Being vaguely aware of hearing overnight rain on the roof of our caravan.
Listening to and trying to make sense of, the "stream of consciousness monologue" from one of my toddler grandchildren whilst walking alongside them and holding hands

dudsville · 08/01/2020 22:04

I love one area of my landing in particular and when I see it I smile.

crispsahoy · 08/01/2020 22:19

Knowing that other people like seeing monkey puzzle trees!! I thought I was the only one!! DH has promised me when/if we ever buy a house he's going to get me a monkey puzzle tree!!

FrangipaniBlue · 08/01/2020 22:20

"Popping" the foil on a new jar of coffee or nutella - soooooooo satisfying!

Also the little bag of haribo you get in a delivery from Wiggle

FrangipaniBlue · 08/01/2020 22:21

One of my neighbours recently cut down their monkey puzzle tree - I no longer send them a Christmas card Angry
