Snacks for when school has finished

My daughter started school in September. She has school dinners, I don’t think she eats much of them but she is trying them and some of them she enjoys so I want to persevere (and not give her a packed lunch) but she comes home absolutely ravenous. She is a bit erratic in mood too so I’m assuming this is tiredness mixed with hunger. She has two cracked with cheese and then if she is still asking she has a banana. But then she is asking for more and tea is usually only about an hour after so I don’t think she needs too much more than that. I’m after filling snack ideas I guess without, what do you give your children after school?

Mine has peanut butter on toast, crackers and cheese, some fruit, yoghurt.

He's got a ravenous appetite though.

I generally do dinner early for the children (e.g.. 4.30pm) so they wouldn't have a snack before that. Some days they go to After School Club where they get a snack such as crumpets, toast or pancakes.

Suggestions:
Vegetable sticks (& hummus?)
Breadsticks
Fruit (Apple, berries, raisins...)
Rice cakes
Yogurt
Raw fruit bar
Nuts

I know sometimes my children ask for food when really they are thirsty so I give them milk and that often helps!

Fruit toast or tea cakes and butter are a big hit here.

Early dinner was a life saver at this age. Quick snack when they come in then dinner an hour later.

They can have a light supper later on but nutritionally to eat the big meal when they are most hungry make most sense.

sandwich and a drink

Dinner at 4.30 only works if you're not at work though!

My son is 11 and is still starving when he gets home so it's never ending!!

I take an apple and a small chcocolate bar to the gates with me. She has a mile walk home so she eats for half of it lol! She is still always hungry when we get home though! I try get tea done for 4.45-5.00pm.

Sometimes she has a bowl of cereal before bed too.

I think before school mine snacked too much. Especially if she was bored. So schools helped cut her back abit. They are burning alot of energy off at school too. My DD is having the school dinners too. Not sure if she eats it all or whatever. She has a pudding too.

Ideas are

Smoothies?
Fruit
Biscuit and a cup of tea?
Malt loaf
cheddars
Mine happily will eat cucumber, strawberries, raw carrots.
Raisins
Barney cake bars (not as healthy but ok in moderation)
Belvita breakfast biscuits.
