I was told that only having one working tube didn’t affect your odds of getting pregnant? It was many years ago and I had a suspected eptopic pregnancy and before I went into theatre the doctor specifically said that to me

BagelDog · 07/01/2020 22:37

If the other tube is normal your fertility is about 75% what it was with two. Possibly higher. I have had five pregnancies since my ectopic, four babies. Three came from the ovary on the side I have a tube and two from the other side as the tubes are weirdly mobile!

Well apparently I have 2 blocked tubes but managed to conceive naturally somehow at the age of 41!

I had 4 intra-uterine pregnancies following an oophorectomy & salpingectomy (removal of ovary & Fallopean tube) for ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately they ended in miscarriage due to a separate problem so ended up having DS9 from IVF.

What is being done about your blocked tube?
Good luck!

I’ve only got one tube. Started trying to conceive, pregnant 5 weeks later. Hope that helps!

Iloveacurry · 07/01/2020 22:50

My first pregnancy was ectopic, so the tube was removed before it ruptured. It took me about a year to get pregnant again with one tube.

TheWashingMachine · 07/01/2020 22:51

I had a tube removed and part of my right ovary too after a ruptured ectopic. Six weeks later I was pregnant with DC1, when he was six months old I got pregnant with DC2, it was the first time we considered trying for a second child. Very lucky.

Turquoisetamborine · 07/01/2020 22:53

I was born with one tube. Had first baby after ttc for 18 months with help from clomid. Second child took 4.5 years and rounds of ivf. My c section the first time had caused scarring in my one tube.

StrawberryDreamX · 07/01/2020 22:58

I found out I was pregnant 8 weeks after having my right tube removed because of an ectopic pregnancy. I then fell pregnant again when Ds was 3 month whilst on the mini pill and breastfeeding. I ovulated from my right ovary this time. I was told that having one tube doesn't affect fertility too much, which certainly seems to be true in my case.

DuvetCaterpillar · 07/01/2020 23:02

Ectopic pregnancy and left Fallopian tube removed in February, pregnant again in July. Not sure about blocked tubes, but if you've had an ectopic and if there's no other complications like pelvic inflammatory disease, your odds aren't really any worse than any other woman on the street, according to animal models and epidemiology, my consultant told me. Hope that provides some reassurance, and best of luck to you.

I had a blocked tube and was trying for 18 months (inc an early miscarriage), then had surgery to unblock and still not pregnant 7 months later. I do have polycystic ovaries though which is most likely the issue. Doing first go of ivf at the moment.

The tubes wave about so can collect an egg from either ovary so your chances are still good. Good luck!

beingajen · 07/01/2020 23:07

I have one working ovary (I know this is different) and compromises tissues on my lower uterus after cell removal. I got pregnant on my second month TTC. Doctor says my remaining ovary seemed to have compensated and placenta placed high after 6 weeks as well. Amazing how the body compensates.

jojotracks · 07/01/2020 23:17

Lost left tube after ectopic pregnancy..pregnant after 14 months of trying...after daughter born didn't go back on pill thinking prob take another 14 months....fell pregnant 6 months later...

northernknickers · 08/01/2020 07:13

I did...and over 30 years ago, so medical interventions have definitely moved on since then!

(But when I opened the thread, this is not what I was expecting to read about...I absolutely read your title as 'Did anyone else get pregnant whilst on the tube?' So was very intrigued as to how you managed that OP 😱😳). In my defence I have conjunctivitis in both eyes 😂

PaulGalico · 08/01/2020 07:34

Yes, My Mum - 57 years ago after an ectopic pregnancy. Took about 12 months.

daisy2002 · 08/01/2020 08:06

I lost my left tube due to an ectopic pregnancy and was pregnant 3 months later.
My right ovary doesn't work but thankfully the right tube stretched over and picked up the egg from my left ovary.
I still find that amazing.

SE13Mummy · 08/01/2020 23:31

DD2 is ten and started off life on my post-ruptured-ectopic tubeless side. First conceived 4 months after tube was removed, miscarried and was pregnant with DD2 about six months into TTC again.

twigs13 · 10/01/2020 13:50

So did I

twigs13 · 10/01/2020 13:50

Conceive with two blocked tubes

Polly99 · 10/01/2020 16:45

I only have one tube. Just like a previous poster my DD came from the ovary on my tubeless side. I had my tube removed in mid September and was pregnant before the end of Jan.

vivaforever · 10/01/2020 17:55

I had one ovary and tube removed due to a medical emergency during my first pregnancy. That pregnancy proceeded with the birth of a healthy baby. I got pregnant during the second month of 'trying' for my second pregnancy (with only one ovary/tube). Also had a healthy baby.

I was very worried about not being able to have any more kids after the loss of one ovary and tube. It turned out my grandmother had also had an ovary removed in the 1950s and went on to have healthy pregnancies.

Good luck to you!!

KittenVsBox · 10/01/2020 18:06

My tube was removed following an ectopic pregnancy.
DS1 took one cycle. DS2 took 2 cycles.

Palpal12 · 13/12/2020 12:48

Just to give out positive stories . I have one ovary and conceived first child fairly easy . Second DD took 10-11 months FSh was high and I was told my only way to conceive was IVF bc my age and having one ovary plus I was coming close to the deadline of a year . My third pregnancy I started to plan 1 year ahead and surprisingly happened on first cycle. to be clear on my third I was so healthy and was taking vitamin D and C plus loads of veggies and fruits plus dates no sugar or I limited it to 6 tsp. I don’t know if it affected my ability to conceive but I did get my bfp .
