I'm finally taking my driving test next week at the grand age of 32 😂 I've been doing lessons for a while and usually do fine, I passed my theory test first time and I know it's setting my hopes high but I'm hoping to pass my practical test first time too as want to get it out the way before DC3 is due to arrive in March. I was just wondering if there's any sort of homework or anything to go through at home that anyone felt help them pass their test?

As many miles behing the whelel as you can, practise practise practise

Eat a banana before your test (about an hour before), it’ll boost your concentration! Good luck!

Off set your mirrors slightly so you have to move to look in them, helps the examiner to see you are doing it. Also repeat all instructions back so you have chance to get your head round them!

Thanks for the replies, I've just had a look at the 'show me, tell me' questions on the. Gov website and realised my driving instructor hasn't even mentioned some of the stuff that's on there 😳 this has just made me go into a complete stress

@sprite25 my instructor went over the questions in the lesson before my test so the answers were fresh in my head. Just relax, remember you can make 15 minor mistakes and still pass. If you don't pass don't stress. I took 3 attempts because I was so nervous but managed to do these quickly because of cancellations.

Banana before you set off.

Tie your hair up in a pony tail if you can, it'll move when your head does, alerting the examiner you've moved your head.

Good luck!

Good luck. Practice as much as you can. Try and stay calm (easier said than done). Smile

Practice as much as you can. I did loads of private practice and I think it helped my independent driving and decision making.

The show me tell me questions are a set list so you just need to learn them. They are useful Information know as you will need to know these things when driving your own car. Ask your instructor to go over them and make sure you are familiar with the car and engine layout. Practice the show me ones while driving too. Remember you don't have to do it immediately, wait for a safe moment.

I passed my test last year (first time, two "minor faults") at the age of 34. You can do it!

If it’s not too late- don’t tell anyone in real life.
My sister didn’t and said that it totally took the pressure of so she was less nervous.

She just turned up after ‘lesson’ with the certificate.

I passed last year at 34 years old... First time with 1 minor.

My hour lesson before the test was horrific! I stalled, I couldn't remember how to do roundabouts or parking and fudged my emergency stop.

Sailed through my test, he told me to do something and i repeated it back to him whilst doing it.

Hair in a pony, move your head to check your mirrors so the examiner knows you are doing it, have a banana an hour before the test and most importantly, just relax.

I treated my test as another lesson and my 1 minor was stalling it on a main road (i pulled in to let a bus past and tried to set off in 2nd gear).

Good luck!
