Posted in health but here for traffic. Havent have coldsore for years and woken up with a huge one due to being severely run down. Big presentation at work on Friday and I need to zap it. Any great home or over the counter remedies?

Take a supplement of lysine and also zap it with zovirax.

I find compede good, they kind of sufficate it. You do need to be careful putting on as if you crumple them at all they don't go on right.

SuffocateBlush

I'll try competed thanks. I think I it's too late for zovirax as it needs to go on early. I never found it made much difference for me. I used to try to dry them out with perfume which was painful enough to feel like it was doing something! I might give that a go.

Zovirax doesn't work for me once it's appeared. Just makes it juicy and worse. I bought a LIPZOR a few years ago and it has been a life saver as a sufferer for years. Seems to have short up in price though but it has been brilliant for me

That's it champagne zovirax seems to moisturise the coldsore which is the last thing I need. I dont mind when it becomes a s ab although I know that looks worse. It's the painful blister stage I hate. I'll try Lipzor, thanks.

I hate coldsores and as a regular sufferer have tried everything. Zovirax did nothing for me. The only thing that makes it slightly more bearable is a completed patch. You can a least hide the hideous thing and wear lipgloss (put lipgloss on the patch too).

Sorry that should say compeed patch!

kittykarate · 07/01/2020 09:36

Lysine supplements and those red LED light things seem to make the best dent in it for me once it's gone large.

I never got on with compeed cold sore plasters, but that's because I seem to have glue dissolving sweat, so it would flop off in minutes.

I'll look into lysine supplements. Never heard of them. I only get them when run down and havent been run down for years as I'm generally pretty healthy. A three week period of kids being ill, a work deadline before Christmas and a few other factors have made me run down and coldsore prone. Annoyed with myself. I fear passing them on to the kids

The only thing that works for me is the aciclovir tablets. You can get them privately online from reputable pharmacies.

Good luck zapping it and for your presentation on Friday.
