Why can't I find a sports bra? What's wrong with me?

I'm 5 ft 6 and a size 10 with 34dd boobs. I swear I cannot find a sports bra that fits. Anywhere. Or that works, ok my boobs are quite saggy but they STILL jiggle about in all the ones I've tried on. Help please!!!

YY to going up a chest size and down a cup size for Shock Absorber. M&S high impact are a good dupe, but have their own sizing system again!

The bravissimo own make “inspire” is really firm. Worth making a trip to a store to get properly fitted, they also sell Freya and perhaps one other. I’m currently wearing a size 18 but bra back is 36 so another one wondering if your measurements are correct

ShirleyPhallus · 06/01/2020 18:48

I am a 36 back at size 20/22

I am really not sure I can get on board with this way of measuring for bras, this sounds like it would be rather tight - isn’t it uncomfortable?

I’m a size 12 and feel really squeezed in at a band size 32. Feel like I’d get quite bad back fat.

Do you get used to it or just live with feeling a bit squeezed?

YY to Panache - I'm also a 34DD (although more of a size 14) and wouldn't wear anything else. They're about £40 full price but you can always pick up discounted colourways online, and they last for ages.

And check you're measuring yourself properly. Sports bras often have a different fit from everyday ones.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I was measured in m and s, Debenhams and house of Fraser. All said 34d or dd. I promise I'm not just saying I'm a size 10. I will check out the brands recommended and take on board what's been said about supermarkets etc, thanks again

Matalan, Tesco, asda, Sainsbury's and most recently Aldi

Problem identified.

Go to Debenhams, House of Fraser or another decent department store, and buy a Shock Absorber bra.

Or, go to M&S and buy their own brand High Impact Sports bras.

MadameButterfingers · 06/01/2020 19:11

TK Maxx sometimes have Shock Absorber bras or look online.
Shops like supermarkets and cheapish fashion stores will probably not stock proper running bras. Running bras are usually not all that comfortable but don't budge if you run. if they budge they will chaffe.

dementedpixie · 06/01/2020 19:16

m and s, Debenhams and house of Fraser
These often add extra inches to the back size. Have you ever tried measuring just to double check

Palavah · 06/01/2020 19:23

Go to Bravissimo, and try shock absorber.

MrsAgassi · 06/01/2020 19:27

Shock absorber ultimate run bra, your boobs won’t shift! I have to go up a cup size though.

The Sweaty Betty bras are also good although I struggle with sizing, I sometimes find one size too small and the one up too big. Worth a try though because if they fit right they’re excellent.

There's a website called Boobydoo (which I swear by) that you can order a lot of bras from & decide which one is good fit, free returns on the others.

I'm 34D & prefer size 14-16 in tops, but i have very broad shoulders. I can fit into size 10 tank tops fine, though (tend to show more belly than I want, but fine on the boobs). So size 10 I totally believe if you don't have Linebacker shoulders like me.

ShinyRuby · 06/01/2020 19:32

I measured a 34d & had the same problem. In the end I bought 32dd sports bras & they keep everything in place & don't feel too tight. I do a lot of running plus high impact aerobics & there's not much movement plus they stay put.
I've got the M&S non wired ones at the mo, they're pretty hard wearing & a reasonable price.

dementedpixie · 06/01/2020 19:32

I use boobydoo too

SpeckleDust · 06/01/2020 19:32

Agree with previous posts re Shock Absorber Ultimate Run.

I’m a 34E (and quite saggy) - I can run and do aerobics/step classes with minimal movement. Definitely try one in a couple of sizes to get the right fit.

Soulstirring · 06/01/2020 19:33

Another vote for shock absorber although I tend to size down for maximum restriction. Breathing isn’t easy but my 34GGs barely move. The eyelets often rip tho Confused

When I was a size 8 and size 10, I was a 34 back. Now at size 14-16, I'm a size 36 back.

The absolute best sports bras I have found are by Sculpt Activewear. They glue my E cups to my chest. Again, I used these bras when I was a size 10-12 just before I got pregnant and wore a M/L. L was more comfortable due to my cup size.

There's some in their clearance at the moment in the old colours and there's 20% off which ends today, I think. Fairly easy for returns, too, if they don't suit - sculptactivewear.com/collections/sale
