DD has been out with friends this afternoon. They went shopping, had a few drinks in a bar and went to an indian restaurant (she has been there many times before)
Immediately after eating her starter she felt ill and had a rash appeared over her face and chest, she also felt sick and dizzy.
A friend bought her home in a taxi and I gave her a piriton and she got into bed.
She said her chest felt tight and there was a rash on her chest
After an hour the rash has faded considerably and she's sound asleep. (piriton always knocks me out so i think it's the same for her)
I'm assuming it was the Indian food but how strange that she's eaten there before with no problems.
I'm.worried about leaving her and going to bed but as the rash has faded I'm guessing the worst is over?
Never experienced this before....

My son is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and eggs. He carried pirotin, epi pens and inhalers.

His allergy plan (from his consultant) states give pirotin first if not if anaphylaxis (you can google symptoms and see).

Keep an eye for secondary reactions and get a referral to an allrgy specialist who will do tests and create an allergy action plan for your daughter.

For indian food it is probanly nuts or lentils but get a full list of ingredients from the restaurant to identify other possibilities. Allergies can appear at any age, get her to keep pirotin on her at all times until she can see a consultant at least. And get her to warn her friends for what to look out for incase she had future reactions.

Good luck.

@TreetopOwl I know 2 people with a crustacean allergy - it’s a common allergen. Glad to hear she is ok and hope you’ll be encouraging her to see a GP this week.

TreetopOwl · 05/01/2020 20:49

She has emailed the restaurant to ask for an ingredient list of the starter. she's not keen on a GP visit (it's always a struggle getting her to the GP for anything!) but I will persevere!

DD rang the Drs surgery today to ask for a call back. Her GP rang and said it sounded like it could possibly be prawns as they are a common culprit. GP said to carry piriton with her and avoid prawns and if it happens again to go to A&E

The GP.is an idiot then. She needs to be prescribed epipens. A lot of GPS are pretty ignorant about allergies unfortunately.

TreetopOwl · 07/01/2020 14:07

The GP said as there was no swelling of The mouth or tongue there was no immediate concernConfused
