Thermos flask recommendations

Incredibly dull thread, sorry in advance!

We have one microwave at work and it’s driving me nuts waiting in a queue to heat up lunch. I’m looking for a flask to keep my lunch warm, but not just soup. Looking for something I can use for pasta, leftovers etc. So something wide necked enough to eat from.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I have the Thermos soup flask I use it for soup but it has a wide enough neck to get a standard soup spoon in (it comes with a folding spoon but my soup spoon is bigger). You could definitely get pasta out with a fork although you might want to experiment with pasta shape/size for easiest eating.

It keeps my soup hot from 7am to lunchtime. If you were just putting pasta in without much sauce it might not keep it warm as long. I also pre-warm the flask with boiling water while I heat my soup and it does make a difference.

That’s really helpful - that’s exactly the one I was looking at!

I’ll try with soup first/stew and go from there.

Thank you - I’ll fill with boiling water first, that’s a good tip.

Avex & Contigo do decent "drinking" flasks. Unscrew the top & the neck is more than wide enough for a typical dessert spoon. My dh has used them both for soup. Keeps my coffee hot for a good 5/6 hours. I preheat the flasks first though.

It's a lovely flask but I think they all need a reasonable amount of liquid to keep the contents warm. A stew or similar would be fine I reckon (I've had the chunky Heinz 'big' soups which stayed warm).

I will also say that I've not had any spillage from containing regular 'thin' soups and it's definitely fallen over while driving to work.

I have the same problem and use a Thermos. It's currently reduced price at argos. It works best if you preheat it with some boiling water while you are heating up your soup/ stew, if you don't do this the contents can be a bit tepid by lunchtime especially if you leave for work early.

I've never tried one so I don't know how good they are, but I noticed Morrisons had some plug in lunch boxes on sale yesterday. They looked like a normal lunchbox but had a heating element in the base, you plugged it in with a usb lead.
