Katie Hopkins - what’s her deal??

Meshy12 · 03/01/2020 23:37

I mean she is just vile based on her tweets - full of what can only be seen to be white supremacy and racism and then switching to supporting India against Pakistan/Islam

Examples;

  • comparing migrants to cockroaches
  • complaining about migrants ruining New Year’s Eve in Germany
  • saying that it’s ok to be white (or course it is) and that the white are “winning” (winning what??)
  • being very rude to stormzy and Meghan marker
  • hating asylum seekers but praying for Aussies to be able to escape the current situation (and not understanding the irony in that at all)
  • complaining about children who are named after places and that she wouldn’t want her kids to know them (her own child is called India)
And so on

There are too many examples to mention both recent and old and she just seems to be getting worse

I shouldn’t see her output but I do - and it enrages me

Is she doing it for attention? Why is she even allowed to say these things without being done for a hate crime? Why is she allowed an outlet in the press (I think she is even worse than the garbage spouted out by the daily fail)

Even piers Morgan has told her she is a horrible racist

She seems to be aiming a lot of content to US market. Somebody on my twitter feed was having a go at her and I looked at KH account. Because she has been fired by mainstream media I forgot she existed, but she is still going, spewing out her bile. She has become a parody. I feel sorry for her kids too.

TulipCat · 04/01/2020 12:10

I think she backed herself into a corner quite a few years ago with all her vile comments. Nobody will employ her now, so her only option as a career is to carry on making outrageous statements in public.

Disillusioneddaisy · 04/01/2020 12:15

It's very simple - she's made a career out of being controversial and has over time had to ramp up her nastiness in order to keep getting noticed. She is a brand and her brand is being awful. If people ignored her she may go away. The more publicity she gets the worse she becomes.

I'm not sure if she actually believes the things she says or if it's all for the publicity but either way she is a massive dickhead.

Disillusioneddaisy · 04/01/2020 12:17

The row about children's names sums up how false she is. Apparently hates children named after places but her own child is India and when pulled up on it she had no answer. Which shows she doesn't actually believe this shit she just says it to wind people up and get attention.

AnnaMagnani · 04/01/2020 12:21

I think she started out doing it for money in a Julia Hartley-Brewer kind of way.

But she genuinely seems to have got far less empathic since her brain surgery and now can't see where the limits are.

Roussette · 04/01/2020 12:23

I wish she'd sod off to the US, she loves it over there.

I'm on Twitter and I wrote a well worded, thoughtful but robust reply to one of her more vile tweets, and I got over 7,000 retweets and likes, it went viral!

That says to me her fan base is pretty small because I'm pretty inconsequential on there Grin

WhiskersPete · 04/01/2020 12:29

Unfortunately the only way to make her go away is to ignore her existance. She thrives on negative attention. I would start by asking for this thread to be removed.

delilahbucket · 04/01/2020 12:30

Because people like you will post about her and then people will go read what she has written resulting in advertising revenue on said website.
It's no different to the absolute none stories put online by newspapers, then people take to social media to express their discuss, resulting in even more page visits on the none story.
Really, the best way to deal with these things is to ignore and move on.

NotDavidTennant · 04/01/2020 12:32

It started out as being about money and attention, but I think she's been at it for so long that she has genuinely come to believe a lot of the stuff that she comes out with. The more people criticise her, the more she's convinced that she's speaking some unsayable truth.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 04/01/2020 12:35

Just ignore her.

DameofGnomes · 04/01/2020 13:07

Delilahbucket has it right. Katie Hopkins is being used as clickbait - a maggot on a hook. Don't bite, ignore her.

katmandoo · 04/01/2020 13:32

Who?

chomalungma · 04/01/2020 13:50

Trump likes her. He retweeted her so no doubt is popular in parts of the States.

The depressing thing is that there are many people who agree with her.

TSSDNCOP · 04/01/2020 14:01

Trump likes her.

He should send her to Iran. Definitely. In fact, today!

Patroclus · 04/01/2020 14:03

I find it interesting that peole like her always think they're 'saying what everybody else is thinking'. They cant imagine not having a completely poisonous mind. Anybody with empathy is 'virtue signalling'.

She has serious brain injuries/ defects though

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/01/2020 14:05

Didn’t she have a brain injury or something that required surgery.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/01/2020 14:05

I think she was ‘created’ as a persona by the editors of the papers she worked for.

I’m sure they took her natural ‘charm’ and amplified it to get publicity. Sadly she believes her own publicity but doesn’t have the intelligence or charm to do anything else but be vile. She has no actual talent or skills.

I also don’t think she is well. And yes, I do feel sorry for her kids.

Patroclus · 04/01/2020 14:06

Trump agrees with whatever the last thing he heard/ had read to him was (that he could understand). The Communist party have missed a trick by not getting somebody to speak to him. No messy revolutions needed.

Patroclus · 04/01/2020 14:07

She has serious eilepsy, Dobby. Has big fits everyday I think I read.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/01/2020 14:21

Don’t think being a jackass is a side effect or symptom of epilepsy or epilepsy medication is it?

Namestranger · 04/01/2020 14:23

I sometimes wonder what she’s like, privately, with friends and whether she’s actually quite run-of-the-mill

I can confirm she's an arsehole in real life too.

TSSDNCOP · 04/01/2020 14:26

I’m comfortable in asserting KH would be the first person caning the bad behaviour of a child with a disability, autism or similar and their parents for allowing it.

Frenchw1fe · 04/01/2020 14:28

I live in hope her daughter's will date Muslim men and support Labour.

LilyJade · 04/01/2020 14:33

Nasty bitch can't stand her.

@Namestranger When did you meet her? I met her once, a year or two before she went on The Apprentice, as she was a "friend of a friend of a friend". My friend socialised with her quite a few times. We were all shocked when we saw her on The Apprentice as she had seemed very "normal" and polite when we met her, nice enough. Of course, she may have been on her best behaviour as she didn't know us but the person who introduced her knew her since university, so presumably he knew her well.

She has had epilepsy since she was at university and a brain tumour, both of which can cause changes in behaviour/personality.
