Hi,
I will be moving from United States to London soon and in search of pre-schools for my kid aged 4.5 years near to Canary wharf, London area. Could you please shed some light and reviews about good preschools(private and government funded) in the mentioned area.

Many thanks.

when is your child's birthday? I only ask as they might be due to start school already. this table is helpful to check if they should be in school or nursery.

if not, have a look at bright horizons nursery x

its 11 july 2015. Do the government aided schools only allow from age 5 and above?not below that?

Sorry, totally ignore previous post – it’s the September after their fourth birthday so your child would be looking for a reception class place in a school already

you will need to look for a school place already then, rather than a pre school place. have a look at Arnhem wharf primary x

You won't be able to apply until you're here - then see what schools have places.

Faraday School is a nice small private school near Canary Wharf, a large proportion of parents are working in CW and lots of expat/international families; look it up if you’re considering private schools.

For a state school place, you will need to contact the Local Authority where you live. The LA for Canary Wharf is Tower Hamlets. They will find your child a reception place. It may or may not be in your preferred/desirable school.

Those are stats about different schools.

Ok, got it. Any reviews on www.woolmore.towerhamlets.sch.uk/ will be appreciated. This is nearby to the place am gonna live.

No personal experience of that school but their recent inspection report is promising, got a "good" rating with the suggestion that they could move to "outstanding" in the next inspection. The crazy ofsted system does not allow schools to go up a grade in the same inspection, only in the next one! You could enquire about places but you can only apply for one once you have an address.

Looking at stats, the academic performance is in line with the national average but progress scores slightly low. It’s quite a small school so it might be more difficult to find a place compared to bigger schools.
