Bullet journaling - help please!

Have seen bullet journaling mentioned a few times on here in the past so thought this is where I should try and get some advice.

My mum bought me a beautiful notebook from Anthropologie for Christmas and I want to use it properly, rather than just for work as then it’ll get filled up too quickly. I have tried to bullet journal half-heartedly before and failed, so need some pointers please. My google search so far hasn’t really helped as I haven’t found an actual how-to guide. I’m not the most creative person so some guidance would be appreciated... think I need some posh stationary and calligraphy pens though Wink

Any advice welcome!

I only had weekly do do lists when I was unemployed as it gave me a structure. I dont use it so much now Im in work. I used it a lot for planning xmas.

It really depends on what you need it for.

I would start at www. bulletjournal.com. Ryder Carroll, who started the idea, or made it popular at least, explains the principle on there. His is a basic method without anything fancy. The calligraphy styling and art work you see elsewhere isn't at all necessary if what you want is just a good all in one organisation system.

If you do want the fancy stuff pinterest is your friend and there are facebook groups to join. Tbh though, anything that takes up too much time tends to work against the whole idea in my opinion, but obviously that is a personal thing.

There are books you can buy too but again I would suggest you start with the website above.

Enjoy!

I just use mine for all my daily stuff. No fancy art work.

So a year planner, weekly planner (it has taken a few attempts to get a layout that I like), a section on each week for 'to do' and meal planning.

Then I have pages for work stuff, bills, parties and gifts. Random bits like plants I've put into the garden and family history bits.

I'm probably not using it properly, more as a notebook for absolutely everything that I do, in one place. It really has helped me to keep on top of things. I take it everywhere and try to immediately put stuff in, rather than wait.

It helped to realise that it didn't matter if I made a 'mistake' or if I started a section that I didn't carry on using. I see it as a working document, to be used and changed, rather than something perfect

I'm not artistic in the slightest so I have coloured pens, stickers and stamps to make mine look pretty (even though it's technically a glorified to do list).

Thank you all, that website and no-frills video was especially useful.

@pinkcardi I’d love to see a pic of yours if you’re willing to share? Just your general layout. I think I don’t want to make any mistakes as the notebook itself is so beautiful!

Tomorrow I’m going to go to paperchase and get some pretty coloured pens and maybe some stickers then tomorrow evening I’ll start; think I’ll have a general diary then special pages for my activity logs and horse’s training regime etc. A bit sad but I’m quite looking forward to this Smile.
