Any RightMove experts?

My neighbor has just sold his house and I’ve been having a nose on Rightmove as we are hoping to move too in the next couple of years.

If it was advertised at £230,000 and now says Sold STC with the price £224,950 does that mean that’s what it has sold for?

Thanks! Smile

Yeah, think so. Think ‘sold STC’ just means ‘sold subject to contract’ (eg an offer has been accepted and the house taken off the market, but no paperwork signed yet).

Sharkyfan · 02/01/2020 18:57

I could be wrong but I didn’t think they changed the price to show what it went for. I think it might have been reduced before selling, I think the only way to know what it actually went for is to wait for it to show up on the land registry.
But I’ll be interested to know if I’m wrong!

Lemontwist · 02/01/2020 19:00

It was maybe reduced. Underneath the description it will either say date first listed or date reduced. I've been keeping an eye on some houses recently and the price when SSTC doesn't change so I don't think it will be the asking price

PullingMySocksUp · 02/01/2020 19:01

It’ll only show the actual sold price once it’s trickled through from the land registry, normally at the end of the month.
Search on land registry to see if it’s there.

Dazedandconfused10 · 02/01/2020 19:01

You'll need to wait for land registry to update and look at sold prices tab. Usually about a month after completion.

EmmaC78 · 02/01/2020 19:02

They don't show the sold price on rightmove until the sale has gone through and it has been registered in the Land Registry. It will then show in the sold house prices section of the website.

tequilasunrises · 02/01/2020 19:05

Oh right okay that’s strange it doesn’t say reduced and it’s not been on there long!

Thanks all.

Sounds like that was the advertised price at the time it was sold subject to conditions. That price isn’t necessarily what was paid. That could have been more or less, or exactly that. Once it’s fully sold and registered you can have a nosey for free to see what was paid. Should take about a month to two months to appear.

Chuffit · 02/01/2020 19:07

Once it's been sold OP, type the address into your search bar and the sold price will come up on Zoopla.
From what you've said, it sounds like the vendor had reduced the price prior to an offer being made.
STC = subject to contract.

PullingMySocksUp · 02/01/2020 19:08

Are you searching in sold prices or for sale?

tequilasunrises · 02/01/2020 19:11

@PullingMySocksUp it’s still in the for sale section but marked as Sold STC

In a few months time it will move onto the ‘sold prices’ section and there you will find out how much it actually sold for.
There’s always a delay at putting them on though.
Usually 2-3 months after the sale has gone through.

PullingMySocksUp · 02/01/2020 19:13

Yeah. You can’t tell at this point what it actually sold for then.
