Secondary glazing does it block out noise

If you have secondary glazing does it make a big difference in noise levels?

Yes, very much so. We used to live on an A road (6 feet from the front door to the kerb), and it made the house habitable.

Thanks for that. I’m glad that it made a big difference to you.

In my experience it is better than sealed units for keeping out noise.

So is that what you ask for when you want sound proofing? I got a large window company round for a quote recently but when they actually gave the quote it didn't mention that it was noise cancelling at all. Is it 3 panes of glass?

We already have double glazing. I think it’s an added unit of one pane of glass. Correct me if I’m wrong.

It's an added unit, can also be double glazed. We got it as removing all our bay and sash Victorian windows would cost a fortune to double glaze, but the frames of the units are white and lie on the white window frames and are very unobtrusive. Temp in the lounge went up 6 degrees when it was installed, but sound is definitely reduced too.
