Is there such a product that exists?
I can't use a hot water bottle and can't bear the smell of the wheat bags.

Cherry stones heat pillows.

We've got a first aid type pack that has gel in which can be used hot or cold.

This type of thing -www.<a class="break-all" href="https://amazon.co.uk/dp/B003PBHPGI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pGpdEb0HAMW0B?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum--chat-3783446-Microwave-heat-packs-that-doesnt-contain-wheat" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">amazon.co.uk/dp/B003PBHPGI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pGpdEb0HAMW0B

Rice bag? Not sure if smell would be an issue. I made a few as Christmas gifts with the dc.

Valkarie · 01/01/2020 20:28

Cherry stone bags are great. They are a bit noisier, but I like the sound. Also, wheat bags always seem to be filled with lavender, which I don't like. Perfumes give me headaches.

mindutopia · 01/01/2020 20:37

Rice bag.

Search for Hotties on amazon. They are made of layers of tissue type paper with water, encased in a flexible plastic cover and they usually come with a fabric cover.

They get hotter and last a lot longer than wheat bags and don't feel damp.

BeagleMomma · 01/01/2020 21:02

I have an electric hot water bottle off Amazon that saves my dysfunctional gall bladder pain on a daily basis!

Heats up in 10 mins and no smell or dampness

They are lavender!
Cant have wheat due to dd allergy

A few different creatures to choose from

SpaceCadet4000 · 01/01/2020 21:19

It's not for the microwave, but Americans all use electric heat pads which are quite nice if you don't like scented things.

LittleAndOften · 01/01/2020 21:23

Fill a sock with rice and tie a knot in the end. Microwave for 2 mins. Both DH and I have a few of these, they work perfectly!

MitziK · 01/01/2020 21:31

First Aid cold/heat packs. You can stick them in the freezer or microwave for up to about a minute depending upon size.

The cherry stone/wheat/lavender bags carry a risk of mould or fire, apparently, which was why I had to order the gel ones for work to replace the hot water bottles (due to the risk of leaks and scalds).

SophieGiroux · 02/01/2020 20:26

3M Nexcare do a gel filled one you can use hot or cold in various sizes. Available to order from most pharmacies if they don't already have it in stock.
