Champagne - does it go off?

My lovely family buy me champagne for Xmas and bdays - I have about 10 bottles of the stuff but due to migraines, I rarely drink.

I've just read that champagne goes off?

I want to give some away - but I don't know which is the older or newer ones because they all get put in the wine cupboard - some could be 8 years old?

I don't want to give people off champagne!

Yes, I can confirm, annoyingly, it does go off.

Not if kept in proper conditions (like a temperature controlled cellar) - but in a cupboard, yes

Ok - so how long do I have and is there a definite way of telling without opening the bottle? 😬

I didn't know this. Shock What's its shelf life if kept in a cupboard under very uncontrolled temperature? (Hot and cold as the tumble drier is in with it.)

Yes, it will vary but 8 year old champagne will not be nice at all.

It will depend whether it is NV- non vintage so needs to be drunk within 2 years of harvest if kept on side in cool and dark.
If vintage will depend on the year, but if kept correctly potentially many years. The bollinger 2011 is good now, as is the Dom Perignon 2008.

NV 2 years, vintage depends on the year.

If you're in the NE6x postcodes, I can stop it going off. Yes indeed.
