Would you walk through a park in the dark?

I’ve just been out with the dog, I usually like taking her before it gets dark so she can have a good run. I was late going today, left about 5ish so it wasn’t late but was dark.

I got to the park, felt really uneasy so turned back and walked her round the road along the outside of the park.

I felt a bit ridiculous because I wasn’t on my own as such, I had the dog and she gets anxious in the dark so would warn off anyone that came near me. Just wondered in anyone else would feel the same as a female walking alone or if I was being a bit cautious.

I do sometimes , because I have a large boisterous dog and work weird shifts and sometimes its unavoidable unless I want her giddy as hell from lack off off leash walk. I am not quite okay with it though and dont go very far into the park.

I often walk her to my local pub late late at night too, for which I can walk down a road then up another road, or i can cut thru a small bit of land which has a pond and leads to the local graveyard. To get to it, you have to walk down a narrow, very dark footpath. I sometimes do this, which is better for her as she gets 5 mins off lead to do her business. Sometimes I walk up the road to the graveyard which is better but not well lit , and sometimes I do neither and stick to the road, risking her needing a pee in the pub. It all depends how I feel. I have a penchant for watching documentaries about killers and the like, I live alone and I am prone to spooking myself. I live in a very safe area too. It isn't right that so many women feel unsafe.

Depends on the park, I walk through ours all the time in the dark either alone or as the only adult with DC also have to walk on tree lined cycle paths in one direction or another just to get out of my street which can be a little more intimidatingly as can be quiet and eerie in parts. The park is normally fairly busy with foot traffic and dog walkers til late at night, say 9.30/10pm so always feel fine there
