If I like St Annes, where else might we like? Other places to visit too?

That's accessible by train from Manchester? I'm looking ahead to our summer adventures. We love St Annes and it's replaced Llandudno as our go to seaside place.

I'd also like to visit Durham as I've never been there. What's to do there for a family with kids aged 5-13?

No car, public transport only.

If you are going in February there is the viking festival at half term. You may need tickets for that though

Southport is similar to St Annes.

Ooooh a Viking festival! That sounds fab! Dd2 has just done the Viking's at school and ds is obsessed with How To Train Your Dragon so they would both love that.

Chester is always a great place to visit. Buxton is a nice scenic train journey from Manchester too, although neither of these are seaside.

We had a nice weekend in Grange over Sands a few years ago, smaller than the other places mentioned though.
