What superstitions do you adhere to?

If I had read this a year ago I’d have eye rolled but I’ve had the year from hell, to the point I and those around me started wondering was I cursed or something!

So half just in good fun and half in seriousness, what superstitions do you pay heed to? Particularly as we leave one year and enter the next?

Some of these are contradicted in other cultures.

Peacock feathers are considered lucky in India. The Chinese think you should have at least a thousand birds in the house (usually in fabric or wallpaper but ornaments and pictures are good too).

I’ve often wondered which superstitions are consistent throughout the world. Lighting candles as part of prayers seems to be one.

@BillHadersNewWife I really noticed it after working somewhere with multiple sources of the odour and then coming home. Then I understood why my Granddad had always said it - he had a large Hawthorn Hedge at the back of his garden, dividing the land from a farm.
