I get excited about Christmas food and start buying chocolates months in advance to spread the cost. I had an impressive collection that I was looking forward to eating. When Christmas came I lost all excitement for them or they were t as nice as I thought they'd be.

I've enjoyed a grand total of 3 glasses of baileys since Christmas Day. I know how to party Grin

I got buffet stuff for Boxing Day. Meh.

I enjoyed our Christmas dinner very much and have had lots of fried potato butties in the past 10 days but anything that was special or a treat has failed to hit the spot.

What did you enjoy most that you were looking forward to and what disappointed?

We bought the M&S special vegetable selection I think it was called. Everything was fantastic apart from the roast potatoes which didn’t really go crispy and were too damned smooth. I like a jaggedy non-uniform super crispy roast potato.
Would definitely buy the veg selection again, and the M&S turkey crown with the thighs wrapped in bacon as it was all so, so easy and Christmas Day was not spent in the kitchen
However
Next time I'll be making my own roast potatoes.

This year was harder for me because I'm heavily pregnant and also have gestational diabetes so there was lots I had to avoid and I felt so limited. Christmas food shopping was just depressing. But I really enjoyed having 1 or 2 of DH's Malteser Truffles (so much so I've bought myself a box for after baby is here!) and found the ASDA profiteroles really dry - have definitely tasted better ones!

All pre prepared roast potatoes are dissapointing they are either coated in semolina so are as dry as the sahara or taste like giant oven chips. OR soggy with goosefat

The M&S goose fat roasties and their honey and mustard parsnips were amazing.
Their chocolate pine cones which we’ve hankered after for a few years now (but couldn’t justify the cost!) were too big and sickly 🤢

Any chocolate. All tasted cheap and awful.

Tesco’s finest yule log .. icing was ok but the cake was like thin plasterboard, dry , crumbly and tasteless. I had to microwave it to provide some moisture (from the melted gooey icing) but even then became a chore to eat it . So disappointed!

We get a M and s voucher for Christmas and usually get Christmas Dinner and some treats. We got different meat this year, gammon not pork. Sides and some cakes. The gammon was just eatable non of the crispy crackling that was promised. And the sell/use/eat by date on everything was bloody ridiculous. Will not be ordering food next year.

I think I've gone off anything heavily processed and packed with preservatives and who knows what.

Xmas Colin the caterpillar cake, it had the worst cheap chocolate on it.

Not to go OTT with the self praise but my bread sauce is usually a festive highlight probably only for me but I forgot to buy white bread this year. I had a go with brown anyway. Tinny, watery, disappointing.

My home made mince pies. I froze them, and it has made the pastry go a bit claggy. And I put orange zest in the pastry, but it just tastes like ordinary shortcrust.
