Where to eat in London near/around St Pancras

Hi,

We are a family of 5 travelling through London in feb. Two adults and 3 Dc, one who is dairy free.

We will have roughly 2/2.5 hours to find somewhere to eat. Nothing posh Xmas Grin, love a burger etc.

Obviously know there’s a nandos, McDonald’s etc but would like to try and find a smal chain/independent?

I met a friend near there recently and we were thinking of going to:

Veggie Indian place

Independent pizza place

West African /Carribean - although this wasn’t actually open when I went there shortly after 6pm (website says it opens at 6).

All get good Trip Advisor reviews and are short walking distance to St Pancras.

In the end we had to meet quickly in Euston as her train was really delayed!

FeigningHorror · 28/12/2019 18:33

What kind of food do you like?

Simonsaysitschristmas · 28/12/2019 18:34

Meat liquor does good burgers.

Wigeon · 28/12/2019 18:34

There was also another vegetarian Indian on the same street as the one listed above, and both were busy early evening on a weekday, which seemed like a good sign!

Foxton20 · 28/12/2019 18:34

Honestly anything! Will try anything!

you could try O Neills? They have a restaurant upstairs (pub downstairs) and have a kids menu too. not too sure about dairy free but they have a menu online so you can have a look ahead of time x

Expressedways · 28/12/2019 18:36

The bit behind around Central St Martins is all pedestrianised and there are loads of good restaurants. We’ve met friends (we all have small children) at Granary Square Brasserie a few times. They do a good burger according to DH!

FeigningHorror · 28/12/2019 18:37

Cheap Indians on Drummond Street, chains inside both St Pancras and Kings Cross stations, Franco Manca pizza mentioned by a pp is good, some more upmarket places in Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard, and inside the Great Northern and St Pancras hotels.

FeigningHorror · 28/12/2019 18:39

If in a hurry with small children, I tend to go to Leon in Kings Cross station or Franco Manca pizza.

milliefiori · 28/12/2019 18:40

I love the cheap veggie Indian cafes om Drummond Street - that's where I head when in the area. DC love Franco Manca - very good value too.

JumpingFrogs · 28/12/2019 18:42

Albertini's is a nice, traditional Italian a short walk from there on Chalton Street. Plenty of decent Indian places on Drummond Street.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 28/12/2019 18:43

Five Guys! I know it’s a chain but imho you can’t find better fries or burgers anywhere close. It’s not terribly expensive either really. So you can have dessert in a patisserie in st Pancras.

DuckPie · 28/12/2019 18:45

I would say Five Guys too. Or honest burger just a bit further up the road.

GoGoJo · 28/12/2019 18:47

Dishoom is good- more upmarket Indian, but you might have to queue a bit.

There's a byrons/honest burger/ similar chain on the corner outside kings cross.

If time is tight I actually quite like the ask inside st P. It is upstairs and has a great view over the station.

Okbutno · 28/12/2019 18:49

Dishoom is good.

WorrisomeHeart · 28/12/2019 18:50

Honest Burger on Pentonville Road - amazing.

Blueroses99 · 28/12/2019 18:52

Dishoom is great and has a separate dairy free menu 😊 There are other options in Granary Square, you’ll find something you like without having to go too far from the station.

Zone4flaneur · 28/12/2019 19:07

Yes dishoom. Plenty of vegan options.

AveEldon · 28/12/2019 19:11

www.germangymnasium.com/ café may be worth a look

milienhaus · 28/12/2019 19:14

Dishoom is great but realistically there will be a queue for dinner so timings may not work out (unless you can book before?).would second Five Guys for burgers.

Crunchymum · 28/12/2019 19:14

Go to Granary Square.

Dishoom is always my go to but I refuse to queue!! There are loads of other options - Caravan, The Lighterman (Gastropub but does posh burgers and a good steak!), Granary Square Brasserie. Have a Google!!!

Crunchymum · 28/12/2019 19:15

Dishoom only take evening bookings for 6+ people.

Okbutno · 28/12/2019 23:56

Dishoom is a bit more quiet in the day time. I think they do bookings for less than 6 people for lunch. Maybe?

Cherrysoup · 28/12/2019 23:59

There’s a Five Guys across from Kings Cross. I’d be tempted for Giraffe, upstairs in Kings Cross. Never found anywhere better for coffee. There’s a lot of outlets upstairs in Kings Cross.

Queenoftheashes · 29/12/2019 00:01

Dishoom is v good. You can book before 5.45pm. Dinner you can only book for 6+.
