Hi Mumsnet,
I'm looking for ideas for New Years resolutions, was hoping your good selves could supply some inspiration please.
To give blood is on my list each year and I make sure I do it.

Thanks all!

Donate every week/month to a food bank.
Take up a volunteering opportunity.
Learn to cook one new dish a month (commensurate with ability!).
Go on a first aid course.
Start to learn a new language.
If you already eat 5 a day, up it to 7.
Climb the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland - can be done in 3 days, but it needn't be!
Get a fit bit, and make sure you do your 10 000 steps a day.
Start to declutter, by clearing out one cupboard/shelf a week.

The best one is not to have New Year resolutions!
Simply start doing new little things throughout the year to improve or simplify your life.

Drink more water for me too.

Mine so far:
Donate to a food bank every week.

Start reading again (I haven't managed to read a book since my oldest DD 5 was born)

Back on WW and continue to loose weight.

I don't really make new years resolutions but here are some things I have been doing, or trying to do, and plan to resume doing once the festive season is over:

Declutter the house and give away or bin un-needed/unwanted stuff as appropriate. Have got through a lot so far, next on the list is my wardrobe.

Continue working on my diet with the aim of gaining weight and eating more varied and healthy food.

Look for a new voluntary role. I did some volunteering last year which I enjoyed but it has ended so I'd like to find something new.

Give up smoking... Have been trying and failing that one for a few months now.

Spend more hours per week asleep than I do at work.

Mine is to write a diary every day (so I don't forget my life). I do keep a diary, but I fail to do it every day.

kittykatkitty · 28/12/2019 00:03

2020 is going to be all about self care for me

More water
More sleep
Eat better
Exercise 10k steps minimum per day
Relax more

Make them something you are going to do, rather than something you are going to not do; it's easier to keep them that way.

Tell more people what a woman is. Adult human female.

dinodiva · 28/12/2019 06:59

No new clothes. Second hand only, or from a reputable, ethical company and only then if it’s something I really need.

HohohoHahaha · 28/12/2019 07:08

Avoid cities which are full of microplastic air.

Work out where food and water can be sourced with as little contamination as possible.

Only buy what I need and limited to leather, cotton, linen, wool and silk clothing. Only launder non natural clothing when Dorothy not when it requires freshening up.

Cherrypi · 28/12/2019 08:40

Learn Welsh or sign language.
Do daily yoga.
Read a book a week.

KittyMarion · 28/12/2019 08:47

Same as dinodiva. To buy secondhand clothes in order to further reduce my impact on th environment.

Fluffiest · 28/12/2019 08:55

Go to the cinema on my own - its something I've always wanted to do. I'm always with people/kids/family. So the idea of a cinema trip completely on my own sounds really exciting to me. (I know that's a little bit sad)

Build up the savings again - holiday, decorating, and broken boiler decimated the savings this year. Need to build it back up.

FinallyHere · 28/12/2019 10:17

Stamp out things that need stamping out is my handy go-to resolution.

EmeraldIsle81 · 28/12/2019 17:36

Thanks for your suggestions all!
