I haven’t listened to these before but I’ve got a very long drive tomorrow so I was considering downloading a few to listen to in the car.
I’ve found a true crime section on Spotify, has anyone listened to any and if so, could you recommend me something? Tia Smile

I've recently got into "You're dead to me" on BBC Sounds. It's a history / comedy podcast presented by the guy from Horrible Histories.
I've found most of them funny and informative and really good for a long journey.

TreacherousPissFlap · 27/12/2019 20:34

Which wasn't actually what you asked Xmas Confused

Peony99 · 27/12/2019 20:51

I'm working my way through the RedHanded back catalogue at the moment.

It's great - true crime with two likeable hosts.

For something light hearted and funny I secretly recorded my boyfriend is good. Really funny. A lady has been secretly recording her boyfriend for well over a year now. It's just his take on life in general and things going on in the world. she talks it over with 2 friends each week.
Defo worth a listen if your feeling down in the dumps

Cornettoninja · 27/12/2019 21:03

Last podcast on the left is brilliant if you’re not easily offended. It’s three guys who have great chemistry and tackle some really tough subjects but never fail to be hilarious if close to the bone. There’s a huge back catalogue too.

At some point next year they’ll only be available on Spotify but I haven’t downloaded it yet to see What’s on there.

Behind the bastards is good as well.

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2019 21:30

Thanks for the recommendations, as I said I’ve never listened to one before so I might hate it, I hate audio books but I’m going to give this a go.

S-town and serial (season1). I envy you that you haven't listened to them yet.
Also, The missing Crypto Queen and beast of man from the BBC.

FairyJuice · 27/12/2019 21:56

Crimelines, Casefile, Court Junkie, Crime Junkie, They Walk Among Us, Someone Knows Something, Mens Rea, The Trail Went Cold and The Vanished are some of my favourites Grin

FairyJuice · 27/12/2019 21:57

Not sure if they're all on Spotify though (I use podcast republic). I know Casefile deffo is.

Cornettoninja · 27/12/2019 22:43

The missing Crypto Queen

I second this recommendation - ended up completely binging it. It’s a bbc podcast if I remember rightly

Thistle23 · 27/12/2019 22:44

crime junkie and my favourite murder

MolyHolyGuacamole · 27/12/2019 23:23

Dirty John! There's also a Netflix series inspired by it. Also second Serial Season 1.

4forkssake · 27/12/2019 23:53

Shagged, married, annoyed - chris Ramsey & his wife Rosies podcast. There must be 9 months + worth of weekly podcasts.

Choppersicballs · 27/12/2019 23:58

Ear hustle

FlamingoAndJohn · 27/12/2019 23:58

I love Drunk Women Solving Crime and All Killa No Filla. Both female centred funny takes on true crime.

Completely other but I’m also listening to 50 Things That Made The Modern Economy. Far more interesting than you might think. It’s all about the history of stuff like the Light Bulb, Billy bookcase and shipping container and why these are important. As I say, much more interesting than you might think.

notacooldad · 27/12/2019 23:59

I tend to use castbox for I pds.
For true crime I listen to:
Mens Rea which is predominantly Irish crime,
The walk amongst us.
Nordic True crime.
I have just finished Hunting Warhead which was dark and fascinating.
Case File is good and popular.
I also like Once upon a crime

GoGoLego · 28/12/2019 00:00

So long as the drive doesn't involve the kids listening too then My Dad Wrote a Porno is great. 5 series of 15 episodes or so + festive specials

notacooldad · 28/12/2019 00:01

I meant to add Teachers Pet is good ( I assuming you arent in Oz as it is blocked there for legal readons)

The Dropout is definitely worth a listen.

fastliving · 28/12/2019 00:06

I love Fortunately with Fi & Jane

Collision · 28/12/2019 05:49

I absolutely love Shagged, Married, Annoyed.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 28/12/2019 10:02

Casefile. His voice is annoying at first but you'll get used to it. Some of the cases are amazingly crazy, look up the best ones on Reddit first and only download the top ones.

My Favourite murder is hilarious, but again, look up the best ones. The presenters don't really find their groove until about 15 episodes in.

Bear Brook is a brilliant true crime story.

And S-Town and Serial are classics!

Queenparsnip · 28/12/2019 10:07

If you like true crime I'd suggest Generation Why.
Serial season 1 is a good place to start also- it got me totally hooked on podcasts and I'm not a fan of audio books either.

DonPablo · 28/12/2019 10:09

If you've watched chernobyl, the podcasts by the creator of the series is brilliant. There's one for each episode.

mammmamia · 28/12/2019 10:29

Start with the original podcast, Serial!

SunshineInMySprocket · 28/12/2019 12:26

Drunk Women Solving Crime is a firm favourite! There is quite a back catalogue too.
