Do you have a summerhouse?

We are thinking about putting a summer house and new shed down at the bottom of our garden, if you have one do you use it much, It could be great but I fear it will become a very expensive dumping ground.

We moved into a house with a summer house. The previous owners had put it up facing south in the garden so it was always roasting hot because the front was mostly glass. We turned it to face east, painted it, put a new roof on and put in electricity. It now has the armchairs, coffee table, tv bureau, and tv from our old living room in it. We’ve put up some fairy lights, hung some old framed movie posters and our DDs use it as a den whilst DH and I use it like a little home cinema. We love it.

Actually making the summer house have a purpose means we don’t just dump junk in it. We hide all that in the shed Grin

I love my summer house. It's only small, but I have an armchair, table and book shelves. It means I get to spend time in the garden even if the weather isn't brilliant.

Yes we have a few chairs and little coffee table. It also has our telescope in it so we can use it in the evenings.

Ours was already here when we bought the house. It's quite big, so we use one room for storage (we have no loft in our house) and the other as a guestroom/teen den. It has a bathroom and heating, gets used very regularly.

We love ours. It has electricity and WiFi, a big beanbag and chairs etc. Also fairy lights. We used it loads during the summer. The cat loves it too and sits beside it waiting for one of his minions to open it for him.

No would just be a dumping ground for me but both sisters and a colleague have them and absolutely love them ( but DSs dont let anyone else in, single occupancy only)Smile

Wow I'm impressed I really thought everyone would say they are a waste of space and money, maybe I will be a little bit more enthusiastic. Thanks

It is basically a hiding place / giant Wendy house for the dc.

But they love it!

Yes, but it's a tranquil space, no clutter allowed. Fairy lights, wifi, cushions, bookshelves. I had a cup of tea in it yesterday, all on my own. It was bliss. I'm a bit envious of the shepherd's hut a neighbour has. She has a comfy bed and a tiny stove with a whistling kettle.

I have 2, patio style but very comfy sofas in my summer house. It's not used in the winter, but in the summer it's doors wide open and as much time spent in there as possible.
It actually is lovely in the spring and autumn on cool but sunny days as it catches and holds the heat beautifully and I and the cat are often found out there reading dozing.
