£50. How to spend it wisely

cjt110 · 25/12/2019 20:00

I was fortunate to be given £50 by my parents for my birthday.

I rarely have enough to really treat myself but also want too make it go as far as it can.

I've no idea what to spend it on.

Can you give some some ideas please? Thank you and Merry Christmas!

What sort of things do you want to buy? Eg beauty?

What options are you mulling over? What do you need etc

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/12/2019 20:05

It really depends what you like/want/need.

I'm thinking of spending my money from my parents this year on a new set of knives. Last year I spent it on a necklace.

Other things that might be nice:
sheepskin slippers
leather boots
a cashmere scarf or cashmere gloves or cashmere wrist warmers
A couple of nice makeup items from a good brand?

Karwomannghia · 25/12/2019 20:11

I got a skirt and a hair curler for about that. I’ve seen a lovely wrap around leather belt I’d maybe get if I spent it again! Or I’d buy skincare and makeup or other clothes.

Art - a print from a local artist

PrincessMargaret · 25/12/2019 20:26

You really have no idea what to spend money on and need to ask? Surely there's something you fancy? How can anyone possibly answer this without knowing you?

cjt110 · 25/12/2019 20:31

All of those suggestions are lovely but nor really me.

Perhaps a few takeaways. Or a spa/treatment.

I dont really go out and about. I do the school run, go to work and go home. That is about it.

I don't really have any hobbies or interests as i dont get time or have the energy (I have ME)

only use it on takeaway as a last resort

Maybe some nice comfy slippers/pjs/robe if you’re a homebody

Or upgrade your coat/shoes if you need to!

I’m not sure what treatments you can get for £50. That could probably pay for a haircut & moisture treatment. Or you could get your brows/nails done but that’s a bit boring.

Thoughtlessinengland · 25/12/2019 20:39

Of course it depends on what YOU want and feel YOU need. But to me, spending it on takeaways seems a bit non special. You can always add a bit or money to it around £20 and shop around for offers at a nice local spa? Or have a look at Boxing Day sales online (or indeed offline!) and see if you fancy something?

glitterbiscuits · 25/12/2019 20:40

I wanted to say a day out and lunch but doesn't sound like you want that.
Foot spa for at home?
Netflix subscription?
Box sets?
Luxury ready meals for when the ME prevents you from cooking?
Hairdresser to come to your home?
Photo printing and frames

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/12/2019 20:41

Not takeaways!

You could get a lovely massage in a Clarins spa and have money left for a nice bottle of bubble bath.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 25/12/2019 20:44

What about a trip to the hairdresser? It's the biggest treat for me and £50 would get a conditioning treatment, cut and blow dry in a reasonable salon.

ChasingRainbows19 · 25/12/2019 20:45

If you are home a lot then comfy loungewear/pjs/dressing gown/slippers. Or a lovely warm blanket. I love mine on the sofa.

Or use it for a special night in: takeaway, drinks, snacks, film dvd or game type of thing.

Pamper time? Someone else looking after the kids or a dvd/iPad on for a couple hours. Use Face masks, nice shampoo/conditioner and moisturiser. Relaxing bath with maybe a nice candle with a nice brew or alcoholic drink if you prefer.

Taswama · 25/12/2019 20:47

A facial or massage?

Purplewallpaper · 25/12/2019 20:48

A nice new bag to use everyday?

cjt110 · 25/12/2019 20:50

Some lovely suggestions.

I could do with a fair few sets of new pjs. I got 2 "winter" pairs for my birthday. Could do with cotton ones.

And my slippers have worn a hole in the toe!

Sounds boring to spend on pjs and slippers but its something i wouldnt usually treat myself.to

Slippers and PJs actually sound perfect.

YearofMisAdventure · 25/12/2019 20:57

Have a look at wowcher- you could get a massage or haircut. I love the Perfume Society boxes. A nice cookbook.

cjt110 · 25/12/2019 20:58

Will wait til after tomorrow (more gifts from parents for Christmas) then perhaps go and see what i can find

Slippers and PJ's are a perfect gift to yourself. Get some nice bubble bath too if funds allow.

Everytime you put them in you will feel special.

Chocolateandchats · 25/12/2019 20:59

A massage. Totally self indulgent and you feel wonderful after.
