Handing in gift to a foodbank

The amount of tins of chocolates we have and the smellies I haven't opened from last year are a bit ridiculous. WIBU to hand them in to a foodbank? Seems a waste to not put them to good use. Might be a stupid question but I don't suppose you can hand in the odd bottle of Baileys?

I don't think you can give alcohol.

What about a local residential home. The staff can treat the residents (or at least some of them) with a little treat. Or they can use it in a raffle.

I volunteer at a community support project attached to our local Foodbank and we don’t accept alcohol donations.

We’ve had lots of tins of chocolates though!

Our foodbank accepts alcohol, but for raffle prizes and fundraising as they can't distribute it.

You would need to take a look at what your local foodbank accepts (website) or phone them.

Most do not accept alcohol and many of them have asked for no more chocolate. However, you might have one that has separate 'picking' shelves for birthdays etc. but a lot depends on space.

Ask. And if it doesn't suit them then maybe a local charity (for raffles) or nursing home.

Foodbank/women's refuges/homeless shelters for excess treats & gifts.

Shelters/churches/community centres who are putting on Christmas meals for those in need for excess treats and alcohol. Google it in your local area.
