Unpasteurised juice

Wondering if anyone can put my mind at rest 😔
Just to make you aware I'm 16 weeks pregnant and am suffering with acute anxiety after 2 previous miscarriages.
I bought some Clementine juice in Asda, really cheap. I had a glass today but later noticed on the label it does not say it has been pasteurised. All it says is never from concentrate and 100% freshly squeezed. Does anyone know if the label would have to state if it has been unpasteurised? I have read you should avoid unpasteurised juice during pregnancy but not sure if it's just an American thing as I know they are a lot stricter. However, of course I am now worrying about it and thinking I could have harmed my baby..
All I actually want to do is relax and enjoy Christmas with my family!

Is pasteurising juice a thing..?

Either way, it's not something that's mentioned on the nhs website so you're fine. You're really best just sticking to what the nhs says and ignoring anything else you read online - recommendations will vary in different countries, plus you've got people's opinions thrown into the mix, so if you avoid everything you come across some website saying you shouldn't eat then you won't eat anything.

Fruit juice does not get "pasteurised". Pasteurisation is used for fluids which originally contain bacteria, like milk or wine.

Don’t worry OP, it’s fine.

Juice does get pasteurised so no idea what pp is talking about. In Oz juice is always pasteurised unless it's explicitly says 'cold pressed juice'. I'd assume the UK has the same regulations in regards to pasteurisation

Apple juice has to be pasteurised to ensure harmful bacteria don’t grow but I don’t think orange juice has to be

GaaaaarlicBread · 25/12/2019 06:13

I did the same yesterday OP , I’m still very early compared to you but I read online about it but when I went on nhs website it didn’t say anything about juice so now I’m really confused 😐 xx

Am pretty sure it is pasteurised, OP.

Raw juice has too short a shelf life, and sells at a premium (£3 for a small bottle) for being raw.
Tweet them to find out? @asda

Thanks for replying..
It was only one glass and honestly I'm tired of worrying lol!
As someone pointed out, may as well not eat or drink anything. X

Very little would grow in orange juice, it's really acidic, Listeria won't grow at that low a pH so don't worry!
