Proud of DS

DS just went round to his granny's (my MIL with whom I am low-contact) to offer to drive her to her sister's tomorrow. She was claiming illness and would have ended up being on her own tomorrow. DS drove round, sat with her and listened to her woes. Turns out she was nervous about the drive, so he sat in the car with her while she drove to ours. He made her a cuppa and I managed to be civil to her (I was in PJs, drinking gin and watching tvGrin) Then she drove home, fully confident once again , and full of praise for DS.

Parenting win! So proud Xmas Smile
(NB DH is at work abroad, or he would have done this himself. DS is brilliant about taking on this new adulting role - he's nearly 18)

That's lovely.

Well you both sound amazing. It's not always easy being polite to someone you dont get on with. But well done DS - good manners go a very long way in life.

Thanks @spongedog I've known her 25yrs and only stopped talking 2 yrs ago (gaslighting, belittling, etc) The stress relief was immediate. It's easier to be objective now and explain her quirks to DS, who adores her but also understands my position. I'd never want him to feel he has to take sides.
I'm so proud of his diplomacy mostly (can I write him a reference if he applies to be an ambassador? GrinGrin)
