I often see it written in my psychiatrist letters. The word Anhedonia that there are signs of it at the appointment.

According to Google it means an inability to feel pleasure in normally pleasurable things.

Gingernaut · 22/12/2019 22:09

Anhedonia means lack of joy.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anhedonia

It's a symptom of a number of different disorders, from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia and drug abuse.

Thank you I find it odd how she writes that there are signs of it at the appointment as you can’t really see it

I think you can normally tell if someone is feeling joyful/pleasure. It is normally pretty obvious. But I'm not sure how much you'd expect to see at an appointment! However I presume she asks questions and the responses given suggest a lack of pleasure compared with the average person.

You either have very little insight into your condition, or you are actively trying to mask the severity from the person who's trying to help you.

From your appearance, to your attitude and your response to questions, anhedonia is kinda, sorta obvious to someone trained to look for the signals.

busyweeks78 · 24/12/2019 15:33

No I’m not trying to hide things. I’m very honest I was just curious how someone could see it.

You can generally tell if someone isn't taking much pleasure in life, even as a layman, so I imagine a professional would be able to spot it pretty easily.

busyweeks78 · 25/12/2019 12:54

I guess they can but I do try to be positive
